Diffuse Thinner - Shall I Shave This? (pics Included)

Hi guys,

My hair is going pretty thin on top/the middle of my head, been thinking about shaving it down - given the way my hair is at the moment, will it just look more bald/patchy or will it blend in better?

I've attached some pocs of it wet - 1 in normal daylight and 1 under a bright light to help ahow the scale of my problem

Its not too bad when dry (as long as I avoid standing under any bright lights) but from the right angle you can clearly see its thinning. I am debating whether to get my hair cut and try to maintain it a little longer or just shave it completely (kinda like Jake Gyllenhaal in Southpaw)

Currently using saw palmetto and biotin to see if that makes any differences

Any advice welcome

Thanks

My number 1 advise would be to get on Finasteride

Ive seen people make wonders on diffusse patterns like yours on finasteride

Shorter hair tend to make balding not as visible, but long hair IMO makes it look thicker

You could probably get away with short sides, and a little longer on top - but not for a very long time if you dont start a proper anti androgen

Biotin promotes healthier hair, skin and nails and does nothing for hair loss, also saw palmetto won't do much (if anything).

You've got a few options:

1. Start finasteride and/or minoxidill with nizoral twice a week.

2. If you weren't willing to commit to treatment for whatever reason but still wanted a full looking head of hair, then you could try some kind of hair fibres/concealer.

3. "Just shave it bro"

Oh my, the dreaded diffuse rears its ugly head (no pun intended) once again...

Fuckin' genetics is a b**ch, bro.

That nasty sh*t whacked me too.

As mentioned by the fine posters above, start popping finasteride and using nizoral a couple times a week ... and getting down on your knees and praying to your (likely imaginary) maker...

First how old are u?

2nd i would take finasteride. You can hold your status or it would be better after 6-12 months.

Thanks for the advice all. Also, for the record, I am 27.

I am interested in trying the Nizoral/Finasteride combo, I guess its worth a shot!

Is this the correct Nizoral?

And how do I go about obtaining finasteride in the UK? I thought it was prescription only, but I have just found this website:

https://www.doctorfox.co.uk/hair-loss-treatments/#medicine_prices_tab

Which seems to sell it at a good price and only requires you to answer a few questions beforw purchase

Thanks

Yep, that's the correct nizoral, and I also get my finasteride from doctorfox so everything is fine there.

I have diffuse thinning just like yours and about the same loss as yours too so I want to recommend you several options so you don't end up doing something you could regret.

If you're considering hair transplant whether FUE or FUT, try these options out FIRST!

1. Use a hair thickening shampoo and conditioner as my hair improved significantly just from using it. Of course it's temporary thickening but it's not like you don't shower everyday. So by the time your hair thins out again it's already another day and time for your next shower :)

2. Try finasteride for a year and see if you can halt further thinning. I had no sexual side effects and if you did you can just stop use.

3. Get a buzzcut! I liked a number 3 buzz cut for my hair and it looked amazing, however in sunlight I could see some thinning still which is why I would use hair thickening shampoo and it was fine my friends didn't mention anything about thinning hair. I have light skin and black hair so a buzz cut might be less obvious signs of thinning for you since your hair and skin are a more closer contrast.

4. Shave your head. I know this sounds crazy, but at least try it once before you undergo any procedure to see what you think of a shaved life. It might look odd to you at first because you aren't used to not having hair, but it could definitely be much more pleasing to you than you thought. If you are convinced you don't like it, then it grows back and just wear a cap until it does!
