Did your initial hairloss just kick in or was it gradual?

i told my doctor that my hairloss all of a sudden just kicked in. I'm not kidding. it almost felt like an overnight thing! my hair were always like branches. they just stick out and feel pointy cause they were so thick. but one morning when i went to work, it felt smthg i never felt before. my hair felt weightless and very soft. i thought this was great at first cause for once i don't have to crazy here which sticks in all sorts of directions depending on which way i sleep the night before.

but since then, my hair started thinning like a mofo. it became thinner and thinner. and within 7 months I could say i lost more than 50% of my hair. has anyone had their male pattern baldness kick in so suddenly and aggressively? from the way i read this forum, most ppl realize it rathar slowly, whereas i felt it go from thick to thin within a night! is this heard of at all?

I had a small receding on my left temple that I watched and ignored for several years. I guess around the same time I had about a 3" spot that grew at my vertex. Back then about four years ago I even tried to buy rogaine to treat my temple but it said do not use on temples so I put it back.

Everything seemed cool until August 02 when my hair lossed started escalating to the point were I had thinning on the top, large hole in the back and receding on both sides and thining in the frontal region. I almost sh*t my pants when I went for a haircut under the bright lights and wetting down I saw thin spots everywhere. The new girl cutting my hair was taken by surprise and did not know how to hanlde it. From then on I new I was in trouble and very self conscious. I did not know much at the time but ordered Tricomin spray and Crinagen. I did not use them everyday so my hair although improved ma bit never really regrew. I even had a 42yr old guy tell me "hey your going bald just like me."

To answer your question my hair was ok with one thin spot then all of a sudden it went crazy and started falling out. I believe if I had not started rogaine and other things I would now have bald spots showing, which I was able to fend off for the time being. At the time I was also taking prohormones and tetosterone enhancers like Tribex, Zebutol and Russian anabolic. I know these thing aided in the progression.

My hairloss progressed slowly over time, but in definite stages marked by rapid loss. At 19, I noticed itching in my temples. Thought it was just irritation, but over the course of a summer I went to a full hairline to very thin temples and basically a mild widows peak high hairline over a single winter season.

Over the next two-three years, the temples gradually turned from thin to gone. This was very subtle, as the thin hair in my temples was cosmetically not thick enough to style as a full-headed person could, so I went with the flow. Hey, I still got compliments on my looks, still got mamis, no problem.

At 27, I had another event... my 'high hairline' started itching again, and I very rapidly shed hair and went from a high forehead to a definite widows peak. People used to say I looked like Charlie Sheen with a slightly higher forehead, now people were comparing me to Kevin Costner. But like Costner, I still had plenty of thickness left to style it in a trendy way and still looked good.

At 33, two months ago, I went through another change. Again, sudden itching and shedding. I knew what it meant, and had realized for a good three or four months that the hair in the center of my forehead all the way back to my vertex was clearly not growing as fast nor as long as the other hair. I know what is coming, the dreaded horeshoe, which I am NOT ready to accept at my age. So, I have begun my regimen and started getting shorter haircuts more often. As of now, I have saved my hair! I still have my age 27 hairline, and after 2 weeks of minoxidil for whatever reason my itching and shedding has stopped. Don't get me wrong, I am not attributing the holding of my hair to just 2 weeks of minoxidil (well then again, who knows!?), but I honestly believe that the mental energy I have to fight the hairloss and the extra care I have taken with my diet, etc, have helped. I would love to maintain my hairline as it is now... but if I just happen through some regrowth to thicken my center forehead area and vertex (which is yet FAR from bald) then I would be overjoyed!

Sorry for the essay here, but I hope I gave you a valuable answer to your question from one person's perspective.

Mine kinda came fast. I always had a pretty good hairline with decent hair density. About a 14 months ago i noticed my hair took FOREVER to style and spike and mess up. It used 2 take me like 30 seconds 2 style my hair. All of a sudden it was taking me like 30 min cause I was thinning. A couple months later I noticed my hairline was receding but I didnt really think anything of it. Then a couple months after that I just looked in the mirror one day and was like "HOLY sh*t" im loosing my hair and where is my hairline! Happened in like a year for me. I still have a good amount left.

If i could just get thickening and a tad bit of regrowth I could have a perfect hairline again. I really dont need that much.

mine came fast. Over a 3 month period i had to get like 4 haircuts because my hair would just seem "soft" after like 2 weeks. During this period my haircuts got signifcantly shorter and hair would not stand up straight after a week or 2. This is when i went from super thick kid hair to i would say average adult hair. That was 3 years ago, and since then my hair has just thinned moreso, and my temples are slowly moving on back.

Fast! A week after my 20th birthday, I was in the shower, ran my hands through my hair and hundreds were on my hand. Even when dry if I rubbed my scalp while over a table, tons of hairs would fall on it.

Remarkably slow - but then, I always had thin hair.

I lost it for 4 years, had plants in the temples, maintained for 14 years, then started diffusing. Started finminniz after that.

Still look ok but not great.
