5-Alpha Reductase enzyme is sped up, runs faster in the prescence of higher insulin levels leading to higher DHT levels given similar testosterone levels. Which may be why young men with high T levels do not have issues with male pattern baldness until older, as we age and get more insulin resistant...

OH, and also SSRI's are known for weight gain, one reason is they increase insulin resistance and increase insulin secretion. Zoloft at 4 weeks in one study doubled insulin levels. Which is why some people probably experience hair loss from SSRI's...they spike insulin, weight and 5-AR.

Its certainly far from the dumbest theories i have seen on these boards. It might not fit every case, but nothing usually does. Sounds pretty reasonable to me, but how much evidence is there supporting this?
