I'm on Fincar month 5, nizoral month 6. Full coverage but thinning all over top, with hairline see-through in bright light. The temples seem slightly thinner than the rest, although it's hard to confirm this.
I mentioned that when I stopped minoxidil for a month just now, and then got on brand-name Rogaine for the first time, I got crazy dandruff and itching, much more so than when I first started minoxidil and wasn't even using nizoral at all. Prior to restarting minoxidil, I had had nothing, even when I was on all three. It made me speculate on possible differences between brand-name and generic, even though the ingredients lists are identical.
This is the worst dandruff I have ever had. Even showering doesn't help. Someone here (forgot who) advised me to get Head and Shoulders to use on the non-nizoral days. I bought some today, but it was the "intensive care" kind, which says on the bottle "use AT LEAST two times a week or as directed by doctor." (emphasis theirs) The other kinds of Head and Shoulders say to use every day. Have I made a big mistake and gotten something much too strong? If I used this two days straight and nizoral on the third day, week in week out, would that be much too rough on my hair?
Please respond if you know about this kind of thing. I'm trying to decide whether I should return this bottle to the store and get milder stuff.
