hey all, been on these forums for quite a long time now and thought it was time to join up and share my story and experience so far with my own hairloss. I'm a 20 year old male from australia and suffering from that damn male pattern baldness.anyway i guess im a norwood 2 i think everytime i look in the mirror at the sides of my head it doesnt seem so bad and i have a obession with the mirror, whenever i walk past one there i go,checking my hair out its a bad habit but a hard one to overcome (im sure some of you know what i mean). I'v been on propecia for about 12 months now going on 13 after this one and im not sure what my results are, before i started my hair was so thick and honestly i dont think i even started to loose hair just the fear and panic of loosing it in the future was enough to make me jump onto propecia and i think it might of been a mistake my hair has been owned, like, really really owned the front part is gettn very thin and im not sure if its from shedding or what,i think i may of had some bouts of Telogen Effluvium this year because alot of stresfull things have happend and im hoping that some of the density lost was from the Telogen Effluvium, anyway im not going to forum bash propecia im still sticking with it as iv read its best to just ride out whatever happens but it still scares me that its not working i also am confused,iv read that people have loss of libido and such, well, its the other way round for me,im so god damn horny its like im on v**** 24/7 and iv noticed iv been gettn a few more pimples then normal, dont know why any imput could help. I hope to post some pics soon and will update as i go along fingers crossed. As u can tell im very confused about this all and would really appeciate any help u can give because i know alot of you are very experinced.

Did you lose density only on top or also at the back and sides? If you lost hairs on the sides and back then you have got a chance that your sudden hair loss comes from Telogen Effluvium. Maybe see a dermatologist and hear what he can tell you about your hair loss. Just make sure to stay on finasteride. Hope this helps a bit. Good Luck!

thanks for the feedback. i would say yes i have lost hair from the back and sides my sides seem alot thinner then what they were but my hair is also kind of long so maybe thats why it doesnt seem thicker,im confused about Telogen Effluvium's effects because my front hairline has gotten rather thin to,does Telogen Effluvium effect the hairline aswell? and all the hairs i have been loosing during the day which is alot of them are kind of colourless and thin but even though all this is happening my vertex is in really good condition IMO anyway i'll have to post pics so i can get some better judgements.

Yes, best would be to post pics. Telogen Effluvium is thinning all over head, so yes the hairline should get thinner as well, but not recede.

Hmmm, I see no signs of thinning in your crown area, but you do show temple recession, nothing dramtic yet, but an early NW2 nevertheless.
Reminds me on my own hairloss. Your density is better than mine, though my hairline is slightly better. You do have a big forehead as well like myself.

You should go and see a dermatologist to confirm male pattern baldness and then get on treatments. Finasteride is definetly your first option. Good Luck!

thanks for your input its nice to know people can help me out with this. yes i to noticed my crown isnt thining,is that normal to have your temples reced but your crown stays i thought your crown was the first thing to go? Im hoping the thining you do see around my hairline and temples is from the Telogen Effluvium if i did go throu it or a major shed on propecia because like i said iv been on it for about 13 months and i hear about major shedding around that mark,i dont think iv receded to much at all really,iv got a huge forhead and my hairline as allways been high like that if i can manage to keep what i have if i do have male pattern baldness i will be very happy.

Hair Loss seems to start with thinning at the crown for most people, but it is not unusual that your hairline is receding before any crown loss. Don´t take all this stuff you hear about propecia sheds for granted. I have seen no studies proving that Propecia causes any shedding at all and everybody will tell you a different time when their "shed" set in.

I am optimistic that with proven treatments your hair will stay like that for a long time.

well i dont know wot to do,im thinking, well,im hoping its a shed brought on by propecia but i hear ppl say propecia doesnt cause shedding yet i have only shed this much since on propecia or like i said Telogen Effluvium. im just going to stick with propecia for another 5 months or so see what happens
