DHT & Sebum

DHT is a combination of testosterone and androgen receptors mixed with sebum and dirt particles. DHT has a disastrous effect on the hair follicle so it begins to shut down and the hair eventually falls out. (Sebum is a fatty substance secreted from the sebaceous glands most of which open into hair follicles.)

"Although the numbers of men and women experience hair loss or thinning hair is roughly equal"

I call bullshit.

If you mean women who have thinning that is hardly noticeable, I can agree, but that is what making hair shorter and thickeners are for. The end result? You do not notice the woman's losing any hair. Maybe until her late 40s or 50s but like she should care then. No one wants to bang a 45 year old woman anyway.

About this sebum thing, I disagree to that as well. Hair loss is not caused because you sweat more from your head. If that was the case than every person with a full head of hair would be balding if they were to never wash their head. They can leave sebum building up in their scalp continuously for years and they would not thin, ever. Why the hell do you think cavemen didn't bald?

Sebum may be a factor accelerating your already-determined-pattern of balding but it will never be a root cause. This goes in the category of stress and frequent masturbation.

Ok maybe we can't classify it as a root cause, but for people sensitive to dht the sebum containing dht won't affect the hair more?

I mean the ideia is to know if it's really good to wash our heads everyday instead of every two days.

How do we know sebum carries dht? And I thought I said sebum goes in the category of stress i.e. factors that accelerate baldness.

And yeah it's probably better, for the hair follicle. Don't know about the hair though.

It probably carries it.

As for me, I don't wash every day. Sh*t gets tedious. Besides with Propecia you shouldn't worry as much about DHT affecting your follicles, but you should still worry a bit I guess.

Propecia doesn't erase all dht.

so that's why i'd like to know if the dht that sebum carries afects the scalp.

I really doubt it.
