Well, no matter how much Finasteride you take, you're not going to prevent the formation of very much more DHT. In this respect, 0.2 mg/day does almost the same thing as 5 mg/day. But for a greater defense against DHT, a topical agent might help (or the dreaded Dutasteride).

They say that there are more factors involved than DHT in hairloss, so basically people with little or none bodyhair can either be very sensitive to DHT (probably the most normal case) or be experiencing male pattern baldness based on other, yet unknown, factors.

I think that people with low DHT levels are more likely to suffer from side effects like gynecomastia and erectile dysfuctions as they are lowering their already low levels of DHT.

If you have high levels of DHT in your blood and are hypersensitive to it you may be facing a real problem, but at least Finasteride should slow down the process.

I've never had chest hair, but always hairy legs, and I find that since taking finasteride, my head hair is getting consistently thicker, but my leg hair and even fine-to-begin-with arm hair is getting consistently thinner.

I am 25 and getting hairs all over my body since I was 19.
They are even coming out of my ears now - what a horror ;)

Does a hairy back mean I do have a high testosterone level?
So is it likely I won't suffer side fx?
;)

u should be careful, a bit og hair on chest is fine, arms and legs still normal if u have them since young but on the back is dangerious ..
this is what i presume, most men who have hair on the back seem to go completely bald...based on anecdotal but i cant confirm

Yo I know, that's why am on propecia & minoxidil for almost 10 months.
That's not the point - I am just worried of possible long-term side fx.

After all I read on the net & here, it seems that people with a low Testosterone level tend to suffer more from side fx.

As I am so hairy, I assume I do have a lot of testosterone, fortunatley, my regimen is working for me, I am just worried if it's worth it.

Don't get me wrong - finasteride and the other stuff is a great thing, it just b****s me that no long-therm results are available. So I am doing some research on the sofar-reported sidefx to find out more.

Body hair is not caused primarily by testosterone but by DHT. Being hairy isnt a sign of high test or even high DHT, you might just be sensitive to the amount you have got.

Taking finasteride will actually increase your test levels by blocking its conversion to DHT.
