Decided to take the plunge with the big 3 but a few questions...

Hi all,

Just a quick intro; I'm 34 and have been receding from my temples since 25 but in the last 12 months I've noticed it accelerate and the thinning is more general across the frontal area, my crown however still looks in good nick. I came out of a 12 year relationship so I'm attributing the acceleration to the shock and stress but that maybe a bit of denial to my hair loss
I've decided on using the big 3 to slow down the loss and keep what I've got, I'm not quite ready to lose it just yet, when I'm touching 50 I may have a change of heart, anyway a bit of advice would be appreciated.

should I introduce all 3 at once, Big Bang style or phase one in at a time. If so in what order?

I haven't had children yet but I would like one within 12 months, is it advisable to come off finasteride when trying for a child and how long should I be off it before trying?

Is it also a good idea to include vitamin supplements?

I've done loads of research but it's nice to have a bit of interaction too and going on finasteride hasn't been taken lightly so please no scaremongering. If I experience sides I will come off and post on the forum and if experience none I will do likewise.

my hair as it stands, excuse the wrinkled forehead. ;-)

Maybe do some far out shots and sides, blur out your face of course.
Just so I can get a better understanding, tbh I think you are a NW1 or maybe 1.5.

Good job catching it earlier and yes I strongly recommend you get on zinc supplements and DHEA supplements.
Those two should do wonders for you, only get on the big three after a week being on those two.
Just search online for a good supplier, and I honestly believe. Don't quote me on this ok. You won't experience any side effects and feel 110%.

I hope so anyway
 hehehe.
Honestly though, I hope you will listen to my advice because these two; from what I've read do wonders.

I would advice to get finasteride out of the house altogether

Pregnant women exposed to small traces/dust from crushed finasteride tablets = babies without heads..
For real. Goggle it

YEs, they are dangerous to pregnant women, but it affects the male baby sexual organs i knew, i don;t think they will be born without heads.

And what's that DHEA and why it's so good for hair? Googling it it seems to be some kind of steroid.

finasteride is advisable if you want your son to be born without a penis.

Please man just wait a year before it is done. Looking at that hairline you probably wont lose it much within just a year and I would say it even looked more than good by then. You could still use minoxidil and keto until then but for your very own safety, dont go on propecia at least not for now. I wouldnt advice it to anyone at anytime anyway but this case is extreme and that is the only reason Im writing this here for u.
But the decision is yours, good luck in whatever you decide.

That's all good advice and thank you. I have read about those potential problems (minus the lack of head) but then I read articles that state they are very unlikely, I was thinking about mitigating those potential issues by coming off finasteride before trying for a child. And to be honest I'm not overall confident in taking finasteride, thanks to all the negative views on the internet, even though I know the internet is a hive for negativity. Lets face you're more likely to hear the bad over the good.

My biggest problem is more confidence is taking a massive battering at the moment and its tough trying to stay out the light :) and I am seeing an increasing amount of miniaturized hairs falling out.

Can hair loss be slowed effectively without finasteride, in your opinions?

I plan to use;
Regaine/regaine foam x2 a day
Nizoral x2 a week
Tricomin x2 a week
Vitamin supplements high in zinc and copper

Is there anything else I should include? revivogen?

Thanks again.

Here are some photos with wet and under harsh light, this will be my baseline and will update the forum on my results (good or bad);

Just do what I said and also I advise you get a zinc supplement that is labbeled specifically to be only a zinc supplement, body building websites have some good examples of the best out there you should buy too see a good effect. Multivitamin supplement are good but I just believe you won't see much of a change.
I'm pretty sure that your hair is on its way to becoming nw2, but it looks good like NW1.5
Thanks for the great camera shots!

The guys up there talking all that crap about propecia are correct to some extent, it being true it is deadly to take propcia if you plan on having a baby. The thing that annoys me though you had no mention of being in a relationship or having kids...
What bollocks, a baby born without a head or a penis, its laughable.

To be honest mate, nothing will slow or stop your hair loss unless you get on propecia with actual good certainty. Though you could try searching online for other okish alternatives, such as 'saw palmetto' or RU58841.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I did mention that I would like a child in the next 12 months and while I don't take the random comments of head or penis less babies seriously I do take propecia seriously. I'm of the opinion to give it a shot and if I experience any sides get straight off it, after giving it a couple of months.

Do you think I should give saw palmetto a try before going on propecia? Do you think that can buy me some time? - hair loss the ticking time bomb ;-)

i haven't heard of RU58841 so will research that.

OOPs my bad. I honestly missed where you said you were planning on having a baby in 12 months!! (Im dumb)I definitely would not try propecia or any of my suggested alternatives. Sal palmetto shares too many qualities with propecia, so i definetly wouldnt rusk it. RU58841 I'm not sure, but maybe a tad too bizzare. Just read about it.

Even it is a 0.01% chance the baby is efected, do not risk it.
Just stick to the regiment you outlined in your second post with my idea of using a zinc supplement. You shouldn't be worried anyway you are a nw1.5!
In the future though after thee old baby comes out, have at thee and try those things I suggested.

You being 34 with hair like that (assuming you have male pattern baldness) is great, and minor dht inhibition will likely thicken the front up.

If I was in your position, I would pick up an herbal formula such as hairomega (ebay or amazon, used it for a few months with some success) or dht blocker by keratin research (ebay or amazon, which I just started and the saw palmetto is from local source in florida), and for maximum efficiency, some minoxidil formula such as lipogaine.

To be fair that is a very valid point, even if the risk is that low it isn't worth the risk. It had crossed my mind but it's shocking how vanity takes over and that isn't cool. I just haven't got the head shape for a crew cut, I wish I did though. I'll lay off the propecia for the time being. Thanks again

Thanks for your solid advice. What would be classed as a minor dht inhibitor?

I've got hundreds of miniaturised hairs in the front, would minoxidil (I have regaine/rogaine) thicken them up?

Yes Rogain/Regain are more or less synonymous with minoxidil. No guarantees if you make a go at it. Be forewarned of the increase hair shed. You may already know that this is generally a positive side effect and should gradually decrease maybe 4-6 months out. Some members have positive experiences with a 1Xper/day dosing. You may want to try this approach at first. If you wish to rescue or recover the miniaturized hairs you need to act soon. Personally if I were planning a pregnancy I would strongly error on the side of caution and avoid every chemical exposure (ingestion/ absorption) within my power and capacity. You 'll sleep better at night. All the best and thanx for sharing.

Thank you for taking the time to read my thread. I'm definitely in agreement with regard to chemical exposure, I've written off procepia for the foreseeable future. Do you think minoxidil could have a potentially negative effect.
Do you know what would be the best way to try and save those miniaturised hairs and how does your regimen work for you?

By minor dht inhibition, I meant something topical with herbal supplementation. Look up hairomega or dht blocker by keratin research, then check out the ingredient list. For topical, regaine/rogaine is fine, but I personally experienced irritation from the propylene glycol, so I picked up tribooster, which is minoxidil mixed with saw palmetto, biotin etc., minus PG... so I think it is a pretty complete topical.

Your hair looks fine. What's wrong with a NW1.5 at 34? You have a matured hair line. As for kids: don't let finasteride enter your house or body for at least 18 months before conceiving. And guess what? Not only is finasteride bad for pregnant women, but also babies and children. If your baby even inhales or comes in contact of it, it could be dangerous. So if your having a kid, you basically can't take finasteride for 4 years.

Thanks for your reply. My concern is the general thinning and the amount of miniaturised hairs that I see on my desk at work.
I'm definitely postponing propecia for the foreseeable. I guess I'm just trying to slow male pattern baldness... I even improved my diet ;-)
