minoxidil is a rough product, especially the 5%. I prgressively dropped it when starting Propecia and I got great results.

If usung T-Gel and Nizoral doesn't help, minoxidil is obviously hurting your scalp even if you believe it has stopped your hairloss.

You could try to drop minoxidil while starting on Proscar (1.25 mg... I wouldn't go that path btw!) and see if you can just use Finasteride and be fine with it? That's what my derm recommended me to do and it works great.

things worsened.. it was so nice the time I posted this.. later I started Proscar.. things were stable and then worsened.. i dropped it at the 6 month mark... things got even worse.. I recently started both minoxidil and propecia 3 months ago... using nizoral 2% as well... it is the worst head of my life today... hairline is badly receeded.. and so is the top.. Im a difffuse thinner...

I will post my pics soon.

sadhairloss,

I've been using Rogaine for about a month and the flaking and dandruff has gotten ridiculous. I comb my hair and it seriously looks like a sweet pile of flour or cocaine on my desk. I should bag this sh*t up and start selling it.

Just stick with it and try not to freak out too badly. The shedding process is part and parcel to progress. One step backward, two steps forward. Keep it up and be consistent. The hair you lost would have fallen out anyway....just look at it as if you're replacing it sooner, because you likely will.

The minoxidil can be a tad brutal re: dandruff. Plain ol' 1% Nizoral is a good countermeasure, and can be purchased OTC at the drugstore. Use it 2 or 3 times per week.
