Hi, I am 21 years old and I just started putting on minoxidil (Rogaine) about 2 weeks ogo, and now I am getting dandruff on my head and it itches a lot. I am already using Head and Shoulders, and it won't stop! Will it eventually go away as my head gets used to it or do I have to learn to live with it if I want to continue using it. Any ideas?

Rogaine is the only thing I've started on but I plan on taking Finasteride soon.

Thanks in advance for any help!!!

Get Nizoral shampoo. It works great with dandruff, especially with Rogaine. Also, Nizoral is the only proven shampoo to help with hairloss. GET IT! It's a must.

The itching and dandruff eventually go away, but it takes a long time. Try using minoxidil sparingly at first, then apply the dosage that best suits you. If it itches too much, don't quit treatment. Try adding an anti-inflammitory, like Tricomin Spray, right afterwords.

Minoxidil is great. Be consistent with it, and as always,

GOODLUCK

The dandruff is a VERY common side effect. For the first month or two, I literally had chunks of skin coming off, like I was peeling after a bad sunburn.

It went away with time, I think that its an initial reaction that the scalp has to the alcohol and PPG in the minoxidil. I think the Nizoral helped with it too... but it took a little time to subside. Give it a month or so.

If it doesn't go away, use PPG-free minoxidil from Dr. Lee or genhair. That's what I have to use and it sucks because it's a little more expensive, but I don't get any irritation at all anymore.
