Cut proscar tablets inside empty gel caps

I've heard that it's better to cut proscar tablets as needed instead of all at once because the pill degrades when exposed to air. I find it annoying to cut every 4 days, so I've already ordered size 4 empty gel capsules to put 1mg pieces into, and take as needed - Maybe a month's worth at a time. I'm wondering if this is a good idea. Would they still degrade in tiny gel capsules?

A big reason for doing this is that I'm in my 20s and the idea of being home at the same time to take a pill every day is unrealistic. I'd like to keep a handful of pills at work, at home and at my girl's place, 3 places I'm basically guaranteed to be at some point during the day.

I have been cutting Proscar (2-4 months worth at a time) for a few years now with ZERO issues.
