Curious about which where I am on the Norwood scale

I'm just wondering where I would be rated on the Norwood scale in terms of my hairline; you can kind of see some miniaturization in the pictures which I also have a question in terms of that.. Will Propecia eventually reverse such miniaturization?



Right now I'm taking Propecia and using Nizoral (1%) a couple days a week; At the moment I don't really want to use minoxidil, but I'm tempted to try and get some Nizoral 2% if there's much of a difference in terms of efficiency. I am very possibly experiencing some sides from the Propecia which I believe to be the start of gyno, but I'm not completely sure at the moment; I have been to my GP and they said there was some swelling in my chest. So if the problem persists I have no idea which route to take since I need some sort of DHT blocker to stop the miniaturization/balding process.

Hmm... Maaaaaaybe a nw2 or approaching a nw2? That's a good hairline though dude. If you're able to stay on finasteride you'll be golden. If you don't mind me asking, have you seen a dermatologist?

I've seen a dermatologist, but she didn't really know much about hair loss; when she checked out my hair and scalp she told me it looked completely healthy and fine, but when I pushed about a little recession/thinning and brought up the idea of Propecia she agreed to prescribe me some. I will say that my hairline has a natural widows peak not caused by recession that's always been there; it's somewhat similar to Colin Farrell's.

Sure.
It's possible your hairline is just coming up to a mature hairline and that's it. But I mean, you know your hair/body ect better than anyone. If you're sure, stay on finasteride. Unless of course it's definitely causing side effects. Imo, you should speak with your doctor more and try to eliminate other possible causes for gyno before deciding it's the finasteride. I've been experiencing sexual sides the past 3-4-ish months. Got my hormones and liver tested and turned out i have a high liver enzyme count. So i'm going off finasteride for about 3 weeks then getting re-tested to see if it was actually finasteride damaging my liver. If the number goes down then it's more likely finasteride is responsible. If it doesn't go down then It's more likely finasteride isn't responsible. It's kind of hard to tell whether you had the problems before finasteride or not and you only started to notice more once on the drug. My opinion, anyway.


I know what you mean about dermatologists haha. The one I saw looked at my head for all of five seconds and just said oh yea you're definitely losing hair and threw a prescription for finasteride at me. He would barely even explain hair loss to me or go into detail about finasteride and side effects. When i pushed about the scalp condition i seem to have flare up in summer he just said oh u kno dont worry about it. My GP went into more detail about hair loss ect with me than the specialist did.

Well that's cool that your GP was actually able to explain some things to you whereas the dermatologist someone who's supposed to have more knowledge in terms of hair and skin basically pushed you out the door. I can see why many people recommend seeing a hair transplant specialist instead since they look at hair everyday; my only worry would be that they'd push for you to get a hair transplant even if that isn't something that you're necessarily interested in for the time being.

Yeah, that's the one thing all the doctors have said to me is that places like hair transplant surgeons will always push have you go on their programs that usually consist of minoxidil and finasteride anyway but they charge you a fortune for it or they push for you to get hair transplants.

Sucks that in the end most medical professionals we can see about hair loss either don't know enough about hair loss, don't consider hair loss important/ a big deal or will push you to buy their snake oils and hair transplants.
