thanks ^
yeah my main thing is that am i right in thinking after the folliciles have miniturised to the point of just being non existant there is no hope in regrowth with minoxidil/Propecia ?
in which case i would have to take surgery if i wanted to really improve my hairline
Years ago various specialists told me that once the follicles have stopped growing they die. This was an incorrect assumption. Follices can remain dormant for many years, as I and others have discovered. Some people guess statistics when they don't really know, ie. they assume three or five years as a cut off point. My follicles were dormant/minaturised/assumed dead/written off/lock the door and throw away the key kind of thing for over twenty years. You just have to be patient with the unhurried hair growth cycle. Get a magnifying mirror and check the progress at this finer vellus level, week by week. If the vellus is improving, you are getting somewhere. It may take a year or more to turn vellus into young terminal hair. Recovery is complicated process, so be patient with your research
too, it should all fall into place with dilligence.
Boru,
I used proscar for 8 months but no difference.. Also, have been using minoxidil for the past 2 years... I quit Proscar 2 months ago after being frustrated.. I think minoxidil helped me but I needed some more support.. it has become even worse in the past one year.. im not sure what to do at this point.. I am considering a transplant but my heart doesn;t allow me. I have been to a couple dermotologists and now I think its about time for a final one.. I used to break proscar into 4 sometimes 5 and never took an exact 1 mg.. if anything, this could be a reason that it did not work for the 8 months i used it.. I am considering taking propecia now and also folligen . infact, im depressed and confused what to do.. should i spend so much money on this or simply go for a transplant... do you have any suggestions..
Thanks in advance.
The 12 - 14 month treatment period is the test. 8 months is not enough. I had some new vellus from in the first few months, because it is easier to see a little green grass in totally barren earth. However, I had to keep at my routine and improve my methods, and it was only after over one year that much of the vellus has started to turn into terminal hairs. Patience is 50% of the battle, I have been tempted to give up many times, but I look in the magnifying mirror and see the progress and potential. I reaffirm my goal.
If you have recently lost your hair, recovery should be faster, but you need to research all the options. Surgery should be the last resort, because even transplanted hair is subject to deterioration. Grafts are prone to balding as well.
It will work, if you get serious, if you want to succeed, because if an old shiny baldy like me can do it (I'm only 48!), so can you.
