CP vs. Minoxidil

Hi there!

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what is better to use against the fight of thinning hair, Copper Peps or minoxidil??

I have got thinning hair on the top of my head which is starting to make my hair line thinner. For some reason, I am only thinning where I comb my hair.

Anyways...

I have heard from many people on the forum that they experienced massive sheds while on minoxidil, and that is what I am mostly worried about if I decide to use this product. I have seen that some have had great results with minoxidil and I was planning to use it. But won't having sheds make hair more thinner???

But if I used something like Folligen or Tric would that be a better alternative to minoxidil because I have seen on the HairLossTalk.com Products Page it has extra stuff like: SOD's.

Is there anyone who has used CP's like Folligen and had good results with it???

Sorry for a stupid question but I am quite new to this hair loss stuff.

I would appreciate anyone's help.

It really depends on the reasons for your thinning hair, like irritation versus slow, gradual male pattern baldness. If you had to pick between the two, then Minoxidil would probably treat your male pattern baldness better. However, Tricommin and other copper peptides are medically formulated to help prevent irritation and restore vitality to the hair follicles.

The best treatment plan includes using both minoxidil and copper peptides together, with a DHT inhibitor, like finasteride or dutasteride.

I use copper peptides and minoxidil. I've used both Tricommin Spray and AC Revitalize Spray, right after applying my minoxidil. I feel they go hand in hand. I haven't tried Folligen but I think I might want to try it soon.

These copper peptides have extra benefits in treating your male-pattern baldness. You will likely have less irritation, less inflammation, overall scalp health and plasticity.

These aren't stupid questions. They're great questions.

Thanks Aplunk1!

You have answered my questions! Thanks.

I am 20 years old and I have noticed over the last year or so that I am thinning at the top. So I really want to try my best in keeping the hair I already got.

I am trying to find a good hair regime that will benefit me and I really do not want to take anything orally like finasteride at this present moment because of the side effects that can happen. I am more happy to take topical stuff.

I think I will start off by taking Folligen Spray because I went on to the Folligen website and the reviews that some people posted were similar to my situation. But I am not too sure if these reviews are biased especially since it is actually on the Folligen website.

If I did decide to take minoxidil, how long do the effects last for when you continue using it??? 2 years?? Or is it something that you could use for the rest of your life without having hair loss again???

That's a loaded question, and has been a source of great confusion on hairloss sites! In my opinion, the best available scientific evidence seems to show that topical minoxidil probably continues to work as long as you use it (2 years, 20 years, 100 years, whatever); however, the problem is that the balding process continues to go along its merry way. After a while, that balding process outstrips the hairgrowth effect of the minoxidil, so you're back in the hole once again (you have less hair than when you started).

Only if your own natural balding rate happens to slow or stop.

I have noticed that when i introduced american crew revitalize to my regimen, it drastically improved the way my scalp felt.

Also, when i experienced my first shed ever in a year of using finasteride, (which is why i started using AC revitalize again), it stopped my shedding promptly.... I would use it off and non, but not religiously. I am using it religiously now and I wish I did this whole time because I do believe it can improve hair density and keep hairs in the growth stage much longer.

Thanks for the extra info guys. It really has helped me in making my decision.

I think I will start with a CP product and see how it goes. You know VWDude, I am using AC Revitalise Shampoo and Conditioner without even using the spray and I felt that it made me have less fallout.

So I have made my decision (thanks to all you intelligent people) , I am gonna start CP before all the hair on my head goes!

They battle hair loss in completely different ways, it's a bit like saying who would win at a game of American Football the Chicago Bulls or the Chicago White Sox.

Both are good at helping you maintain hair. minoxidil is a growth stimulant that provides an offset of growth but does not battle the fundamental process of male pattern baldness. Copper Peptides can help keep hair healthy and reduce inflammation and potentially provide some regrowth but again it does not fight DHT and so does not battle the underlying cause of male pattern baldness.

Finasteride and Dutasteride are the only treatments proven to reduce DHT.

There are many treatments proven to reduce DHT, at least, in test tubes and whatnot.

Finasteride and Dutasteride are probably the only REAL medical tools we have at the moment to battle male pattern baldness... and both of these only treat it for a certain period of time.
