Cowlick or thinning/bald spot?

Hi I'm new to the forums and I figured I'd start by asking if I even have a problem. I've been suffering through some various health problems for the past few months so I'm quite paranoid of new problems.

And now for the past couple of weeks I think that my hair has been thinning out. I can see more of my scalp through my hair where normally it has always been thick and my family has no history of baldness.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if this looks like a cowlick or the beginning of a bald spot? It seems like this thin area runs down the middle of my scalp if I part my hair. ( isn't working for some reason)

What I'm seeing now (there's a few similar smaller spots, but they're harder to get a good picture of)

Cowlicks can normally give the illusion of a thinning spot, just how they are, my friend who has no male pattern baldness as two of them so it looks like he has two bald spots going on in certain lighting.

How's your family history in relation to male pattern baldness? If there isn't any history then chances are it's just a cowlick.

Also if it's not to much trouble perhaps take some better pictures, these ones aren't the best to judge also remember light on certain angles can make things seem worse then what they are (hair wise).

Well I have 0 history of male pattern baldness in my family, but my concern is that I may be experiencing temporary or permanent hair loss from whatever undiagnosed problem I'm dealing with right now. It's mostly been extreme digestive problems for the past month and a half + general health problems and constant bloodshot eyes. I'm on the tail end of whatever infection or illness that I was dealing with since I've been feeling great for the past week or two, but I'm wondering if my hair concerns are related.

I tried to take two more photo's, but the lights shining right on the spot since I have to use two mirrors to take the picture myself. My hairline is normal it's just that there's quite a few thin spots where you can see my scalp that would be very noticeable if my hair wasn't so long.

Well it good be a case of T.E, did your hair get thinner all over during this period of ill health? The random thin spots lead me to believe it is health related and With no family history of MBP it sounds like it very well could be related to some illness but i can't be certain.

Best bet at the moment would be to get some blood tests done and talk to your doctor if you haven't done so already. Good luck.
