Couple Questions Before I Start finasteride

1) I'm a bit worried about finasteride making my hair worse. I've read a lot of threads and seen a lot of people talk about how finasteride has caused them a 'massive shed' and that the drug has actually made their hair worse!
The thing is, my hair isn't THAT BAD at the moment. my right temple has receeded and my left is starting to go. My frontal hair is starting to thin too. But overall it's not absolutely terrible. I want to take finasteride as a precaution but i'm worried that it will make my hair worse. What is the possibility of this happening?

2) What are your thoughts on taking finasteride every other day? I've read conflicting views. Some say it's fine and others say that it's worse than taking it daily because it causes massive fluctuations in your hormones (e.g. one day high DHT the other day very low etc etc). I'm thinking about starting off with taking 1mg mon, wed, friday or every other day.

3) will anything bad happen if i all of a sudden stop taking finasteride? e.g. will this cause a massive shed or increase hair loss?

4) any other tips/advice welcomed
thank you

People will have different opinions on this so it is hard to give advice here, the best thing to do is to consult a doctor about you using finasteride, ultimately, you will have to make that decision to use or not by yourself. In my personal case, I started treatment 1 year too late, if I had started using treatment early in my hair loss then I would be much better off. Prevention is better then treatment.

Maybe you want to try different alternatives before going for finasteride? Swapping for more natural shampoo, eating healthier, trying to get more of a hormonal balance etc.

Using finasteride each other day should be fine, the end goal of taking it each day is to build the drug up inside the body so that it blocks the receptor, for example, I have been taking it for 2.5 years now so I definitely have enough in my system, I will occasionally take weekends off just so I get some slight elimination rather to forever building the levels of finasteride in my system - Again, this is something you would decide yourself and everyone has their own opinion on how use finasteride the best/safest.

If you commit to taking finasteride, I would say you should not stop taking it for at least a year, by a year you can then judge and if you decide to stop using it, it is best to slowly taper off rather then suddenly stop. Its like smoking 20 a day for a year then suddenly never smoking again, its a big shock to the system.

Hi mate I recently started finasteride just under 2 months ago and so far I regret not taking it when I was happy with my hair, no sides and no shed so far but it's really annoying to think I could of Started this a year ago when I actually felt happy looking in the mirror at my hair :/
