Could this be possible?

I've been on finasteride for 20 months, spironolactone for 15 months and minoxidil for 7 months.

I've never felt that I've really responded to any treatment, however....

My right temple was originally my worst temple. I feel the treatments aren't working because my left temple has continued to deteriorate (Still not as bad as my right one though).

However, my right one has pretty maintained since I started treatment (And I do see some new tiny hairs there, although I don't think they'll ever develop properly)!

Could it be that some hairs in the temple area simply can't be saved, but as my left temple begins to look more like my right temple, and reach more DHT resistant hair, it could also maintain?

Or can treatments work on just one temple?

Just trying to look at any positives in my situation.

You know what till I was fourteen or fifteen,my left temple used to be normal like a NW1 but my right temple has always been somewhat receded. After I turned 15,I began to lose a lot in my left temple and by the time I was 18,it reached a point where it was similar to my right temple which had receded only slightly in those years. From 18-20,my right temple stayed the same but my left temple started receding deeply accompanied with thinning in the surrounding areas and looked the worst.

The first derm I went to made me use minoxidil first which was totally a dumb thing to do.With minoxidil,my right temple responded well and I noticed a lot vellus hairs popping up[Maybe less DHT activity] but my left temple still looked like sh*t.When I realised that I was losing some in the crown as well,I decided to use finasteride.I have been on finasteride for 5 months now and my left temple seems to be responding well now.

Based on my experience I guess what you are experiencing could be possible due to extra sensitivity in certain regions.Eventually with time, one would lose it in other areas too.

Thanks for your reply.

My crown is still strong.

It just seems odd that the temple which was worse and started to thin earlier (One would assume, the hair there was more sensitive to DHT) can respond better than the other temple.

I'm hoping that my left temple will recede only to a similar level as my right before hitting a patch of maintenance....not sure if this actually happens though.
