Could This Be Possible With A Bht Transplant

I have looked at Hair science institute site and they claim that they have a technique that makes the hair in the donor area will regrow again but I´m very skeptical to that.
But one thing i have noticed is the hair they implants seems thinner if you compare with other techniques that is used on other clinics and I have seen that many people have noticed that.
So I got an idea that maybe is silly but i will ask it anyway. We all know that body hair is different compared to head hair aight? The body hair is thicker than head hair and if you had used Hair science institute clinic on bht transplant shouldn't the hair looked more natural then compared with a regular bht transplant? Considering the hair will be thinner and if it´s thinner it will probably se more like head hair than a standard bht transplant?
This is just a thought I have been thinking about for a while and I would be very grateful for your thoughts if this could be possible or not.

I doubt this is the correct part of the forum. anyway just use hairs from donor area to treat the parts of your head that people can see and which are more important (front of the scalp , crown..) and use bht to densify the rest. then thickness would not matter. I would say, you can use as much body hairs as you can to treat middle scalp. At the end you won"t see difference in texture because I guess you will let your hair grow, which is basically why you make Hair tranplant for.

The biggest problem of BH seems to be that they are much thicker than normal hair.

So why not first laser them like a hair removal, so they can get thinner and are not black as a dark night anymore?

Does body hair grow longer like normal hair or just to a certain lenght?

why do you care about their thickness? do you want hair or not? Just transplant where people cannot focus on them. If you want, put 50/50 half donor area hairs/body hairs in middle scalp, nobody will notice , I actually even doubt people would notice 100% body hair in small part of the scalp as long as you have coverage everywhere else. by the way, surgeons choose bht which have similar caracteristics thanscalp hairs. bht are just a backup in case you don't have enough hairs in donor area,

On another forum a lot of painstaking analysis has been done on Dr Gho's patients and it's basically been shown that the technique just splits the multi-follicular units in the donor and results in a lot of single follicular units in the recipient - hence the reason for the thinness you mention. There is little or no "hair regeneration" taking place.

Don't confuse beard hair and body hair. Beard hair has a larger diameter than scalp hair but body hair (chest, arms legs) does not.

Chest, arm & leg hair does grow a bit longer when transplanted into the scalp. Beard hair is king, has the best growth cycle for non scalp hair and can be grown long.

Not really mate, just dye it

My beard hair is gray and my scalp hair is brown. I have had a lot of beard hair transplanted into my scalp to add density and cover up scarring from previous transplants. I just use some henna every few weeks to keep it all the same color. It's a little bit more effort using henna but I prefer to use a natural product rather than ammonia based hair dyes which I reckon cause damage in the long term. :)

I would not grow your hair out very long if you want to do BHT. When you let beard hair grow out a lot, it starts getting this bent and/or wirey look which is very noticeable at long lengths. If you don't believe me then just grow your beard out long enough and pluck some hairs you'll see.

I think the best option if you're going full on BHT is a buzzcut; nothing more and nothing less.

Let's be honest, very few people who have had hair transplants let their hair grow out "very long". People who have to resort to BHT because their donor area is stripped out are just looking for coverage - they are not looking for long hair.

No, that's not entirely true. Beard hair is coarser and a bit kinky when compared to scalp hair - but that's then when it's growing out of your face. When it's transplanted into your scalp there is a "recipient dominance" effect that comes into play which modifies the hair characteristics somewhat (body hair grows longer as a result). Beard hair becomes less kinky and a bit more like scalp hair with time.
I'm three years on from my first beard hair transplant and it just keep getting better with time.

Let's be clear on this, the only people going "full on BHT" are the severest of repair cases - really not that common these days.

The predominant scenario is that body hair is blended in with scalp hair to increase the donor supply and mainly used in the crown and vertex areas. As an example, I had my last (and final) transplant four months ago (head was shaved). I can't believe how good my hair looks now that it has gained some length and I'll keep growing it out until I find the "sweet spot" (optimum length). Furthermore, it's going to get even better when this most recent transplant grows in. To say that the buzzcut is the only option is utter nonsense,

I agree. if you go full bht or let's say mostly bht + 2500FUE(hairline for example). that's a good option to avoid the randomness of the growth with the bht sometimes. with a buzzcut you have a neat result and as your donor area remains dense you can shave very short all over the head. I think that will always look better than scalp micropigmentation. But very few people dare to take this choice.
on the other hand the most you shave the less you(rather average person) see the lack of density. (Also depending on the hair colour, thickness, skin tone..) and you also avoid ugly looking comb over after a transplant which I think is nonsense

Oh great another new member marketing for BHT.

Great show us a picture of your "recipient dominant affected" hair at a length longer than a buzz cut then so we can believe you. If you do I'll stand corrected and fully admit I'm wrong. And none of those underground cellar pics where it looks like half of you is in some type of 10 watt lighting and the other half in complete darkness.

In fact I have another question, how long does it take for "recipient dominance" to take effect? If it takes on all characteristics and becomes like scalp hair then this would be a cure for at least half the people out there. Do some FUEs and take from your dht resistant follicles on the back of your head and cover the recipient area. Then just BHT into it after and you have enough for a full looking head of hair (except those that can't grow beards.)

To me that just sounds like another marketing tactic for BHT surgeons. I've never seen a single BHT that isn't noticeable to be a BHT. The buzzcuts are the ones who pull off an incredible look. Go ahead and post some pics I'll gladly admit I'm wrong after looking at your pics. Remember: grow it out past a buzzcut and no underground cellar pics.

^^ LOL

Calm down Tano1, I'm not "marketing" anything. I am merely correcting some of the naive and inaccurate statements that "experienced" members have made on this thread. I'm not trying to score any points either - I'm only commenting here to educate and give some perspective.

Furthermore, I am not obligated to put up any pics so you can go and whistle in the wind.........although I might consider posting some pics when this latest hair transplant has grown in.

With regards to your other comments:-

In fact I have another question, how long does it take for "recipient dominance" to take effect?

I've already said it gradually gets better with time, it doesn't just turn on one day like a light switch.

If it takes on all characteristics and becomes like scalp hair then this would be a cure for at least half the people out there. Do some FUEs and take from your dht resistant follicles on the back of your head and cover the recipient area. Then just BHT into it after and you have enough for a full looking head of hair (except those that can't grow beards.) . To me that just sounds like another marketing tactic for BHT surgeons

Don't misquote me. I never claimed that beard hair "takes on all characteristics and becomes like scalp hair". It doesn't - it's always going to be larger diameter and coarser than scalp hair. Personally, I have found the extra coarseness to be a benefit - it gives extra body to fine hair and keeps it in place - I don't have any fear of flyaway hair on windy days anymore.
With regards to your other point, it is possible to re-stock your donor area with BHT but it's not straightforward and it's an expensive option.
..and once again, WTF is this obsession with marketing ??

I've never seen a single BHT that isn't noticeable to be a BHT.

I have - I've seen quite a few. It all depends on the percentages. The noticeable ones tend to be severe repair cases where a very high percentage of BHT is used.

The buzzcuts are the ones who pull off an incredible look.

I don't disagree that buzzcuts can look good on some people. I just disagree with your statement that it's the only option. It isn't. ;)

No links even or anything it just gets better with time huh. That sounds very convincing.

Damn it I'm so naive. How could I choose to not take your word for everything instead of going based off real time results and pics.

Nope, but still looks better than being slick bald

This fellow did pretty good though

It is better than being bald, but why would you not make it look as good as possible? That guy is the exception and not the rule. Just like in normal transplants some people get great results and others get sh*t results. They can't all pull off long hair but I bet you the majority can have a nice buzz cut. Even then you can see in the video the back looks weird because the hair doesn't grow out in one direction and as soon as he combs the top you can see how it's all wirey. You're right though at the end of the day his look is better than being bald. And it looks great with his longer style. Still, a lot of people don't want to do it because to them it's noticeable that something is wrong or not natural. They're also aware that more often than not, people don't get the result as the guy in the video based off of all the other results they've seen. And if your beard hair doesn't grow out straight enough then it honestly looks like pubes. Ask people and I bet you that'll probably be the number 1 deal breaker for not getting BHT.

I might be getting BHT but only to cover my scar so I can buzz my head off. if they space them out far enough and mix it with scalp fue then I bet it won't be distinguishable with the graft thickness and stubbles.

I guess long hair BHT will work, just pray it's not windy or else you can bust out your cap collection again.
