Could this be a sign of baldness?

Hello, I am 19 years old, these past few weeks I just started to notice that if I run my fingers through my hair, I would sometimes see several strands in my hand, one day I think 30 strands of hair fell out, but only because I kept picking at my hair, now I know my parents and grandparents had no problems with baldness, another thing is sometimes I get a really dry scalp, maybe this is why hair is falling out? but almost everyday a little hair falls out, but alot sometimes, I would say I have lost over 100 strands in the past three weeks, my hair still looks the same luckily, there is only a very small sign of thinning, but it looks the same, and these pieces of hair that fall out, have little white tips, I assumed that that was the root, so this really stressed me out, I had no plans of balding in my life, also, I did lose 137 pounds in less than a year just recently, is this another reason why the hair is falling out? cause the stress from dieting so much?

any help or tips of what to do would be nice. thank you.

if hair is falling out and you don't notice a difference, consider yourself lucky. male pattern baldness is hair falling out and does not regrow back much.

Yes, crash dieting will cause hair loss. Please see a dietician and make sure you are on proper multivitamins and nutritional intake. Losing nearly 140lbs in one year is extremely fast. If you can make sure that you are feeding your body properly and getting it what it needs, the shock should reverse over time, and you'll be fine. I would not call it male pattern baldness and I would not suggest starting hair loss treatments at this time. If necessary, see a dermatologist about getting your scalp back into good condition because that could definitely be affecting your hair.
