I have read prob 50 treads about shampoos now, and they all end up a little different.

It seems like Nizoral is a big hit on this forum, but unfortunately in my country we only have something called Fungural that is 2% so seems quite harsh on the head..anyone with a website that sends Nizoral 1% to europe?

Other shampoos that get good response is Folligen, three different types of Neutrogena and bodyshop got one with ginger

Nizoral A-D Shampoo
1% Ketoconazole
+ treats dandruff and inflammation, regrew hair like 2% minoxidil in one study
- many people says its hard on their scalp and it burns

Neutrogena T/Gel Original Shampoo
0.5% Coal Tar(1% in the extra strenght version)
+ used in propecia studies, many get great scalp from it, coal tar is supposed to be a alpha five reductase inhibitor
- supposed to smell quite bad, might cause skin cancer because of the coal tar
(Weird thing is that its just a few online sites that sells it, maybe FDA has banned it? anyone know?)

Edit:
Thank you for contacting Neutrogena®. It is always important to hear from our consumers, and we appreciate the time you have taken to contact us.

The small percentage of the active ingredient, coal tar, used in the T/Gel products has been recognized as safe and effective for the control of dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis and psoriasis by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The FDA reached this decision after careful review of the medical and scientific literature, which included two 25-year follow up studies conducted by the Mayo Clinic on over 700 patients who had topical tar therapy covering extensive areas of the body over a period of years.

Like all Neutrogena products, T/Gel has been thoroughly tested and safely used by millions of satisfied customers for many years. The decision to use T/Gel products is yours and your physician?s, of course, but I hope that this information sets your mind at ease.

Neutrogena T Gel Shampoo Anti Dandruff - Greasy
0.75% of Piroctone Olamine
+ Piroctone Olamine is supposed to reduce scalp inflammation, similar effect like Nizoral, just by a different mechanism

Neutrogena® T/Gel® Daily Control™ Dandruff Shampoo
1% Pyrithione Zinc
+may have androgenic and growth stimulating effect
-Maybe not, and it causes the opposite effect of the regrow effect that Nizoral have
(Crashing studies)

Body Shop Ginger Anti-Dandruff Shampoo Ginger
Less that 1% of Piroctone Olamine
+ Piroctone Olamine is supposed to reduce scalp inflammation, similar effect like Nizoral, just by a different mechanism, cheap

Folligen
+ some people swear by it
- I actually dont know whats good about

Head & Shoulders
+ leaves scalp quite fresh, growth stimulant
- Head & Shoulders increases sebum production

It is many pros and cons, and I was little shocked about T/Gel Original and the cancer.

But what does people use that they have been happy with?

- Does the Piroctone Olamine shampoos compete with Nizoral when it comes to regrowth?
- Are there any other shampoos that can compete with these in scalp health and "regrowth"
- Any other ingredients that are good for scalp health and "regrowth", and in which shampoos are they?

It would be great if the experts like collegechemistrystudent, Bryan and ofcourse Micheal Barry would comment :bravo:
(hope you like the expert thing  )

Where do you get Neutrogena T Gel Shampoo Anti Dandruff? It's not even listed on Neutrogena's website. What exactly is that? I went through the shampoo isle and there is not one T Gel shampoo that contains Piroctone Olamine. What gives?
