Ok so long story short i noticed my hairloss beginning about senior year of high school when I was 18 and I attributed it to a cycle of pro-hormones I had ran that same year (stupid I know, especially because i stopped lifting 2 years later and lost all my gainz). I started using minoxidil and continued to use it until about my junior year of college, so approximately 3-4 years (with a few breaks when i ran out) without any noticeable change. I was still losing hair at a pretty alarming rate.
Fast forward to the summer before my last year of college (last august) and I finally made the switch to finasteride, using the 1 mg generic pills. finasteride actually worked wonders and within 6-7 months (have been on it for about 10 months now) I had people complementing me saying I looked like I had more hair, they couldnt see my scalp anymore yada yada yada........
Now I continued to use minoxidil until about 1 month ago when I ran out of my supply and my question is this:
Is it necessary to keep using minoxidil with the finasteride even though I can almost guarantee that all hairgrowth I have experienced has been due to the finasteride?
It's so much easier to just take 1 pill a day than to rub all that greasy stuff into my head before bed time and I never really saw any results until I started using finasteride anyway.
If it's absolutely necessary to keep using the minoxidil or risk having hair loss come back with a vengeance then I will keep using it but seeing as the regrowth didn't start until I added finasteride I'm thinking that because minoxidil didn't cause regrowth I don't risk losing any regrowth by not using it anymore.
Any of you bros have any experience using minoxidil and finasteride in conjunction and then stopping minoxidil while continuing finasteride?
P.S. for what it's worth i've been using Nizoral almost the whole time i've been using minoxidil or finasteride (about 2-3 years) switching between the 2% and 1% depending on what I can get my hands on.
P.P.S. I strongly recommend finasteride to any on the fence about using it while still losing hair. It's made a significant difference in 8 months, I haven't experienced any real sides and my only regret is not starting it sooner.
Thanks for any insight bros
