Confusion About Minoxidil Selectivity

I've read many times that minoxidil is a treatment for life. I've also read that people sometimes only apply to their temples etc.

I want to apply it to only particular areas but you can't be precise with this stuff - Does the hair around your temples not sometimes get the minoxidil, sometimes not? Is this not bad for that hair?

I am on finasteride but I have a lot of miniaturised hairs I will do well to improve.

Hey, I've also read some feedbacks about it and don't decide yet to believe or not. I already have a bad situation with my hair and try not to make it worse.
