I started losing my hair (temples and diffuse thinning in frontal third) when I was 17. I am 31 now. The majority of my loss has continued to be in the temples and frontal third, although, when my hair is wet I can see at least a Norwood 5 or 6 pattern slowly starting to develop. My loss has been very very slow, but steady. I took finasteride from 1997 to 2002--same or similar rate of loss. Did nothing from 2002 to September 2006--my loss didn't noticably accelerate. September 2006 started Rogaine foam and Nizoral, added finasteride and laser comb January 2007, switch to Dutasteride June 2007 and added Proxiphen (full prescription strength) July 2007. My thinning has continued and I'm fairly sure it has continued at approximately the same very slow rate. I just don't get it. Although my hairloss started when I was quite young, it has progressed at a very slow rate, so I wouldn't say that I have "super agressive male pattern baldness," and I am puzzled that not one of these treatments or the combination thereof has not halted my hairloss.
