Conflicting Opinions

Hey there.

If I've come across anyone on here that I've met on other forums/seen my posts/pictures, then I apologise. I've just had a lot of conflicting opinions so am a bit lost.

I went to my GP again to try and get a referral to a dermatologist, and she checked my hair and said there wasn't a problem.

So I turned to the internet. Again. I posted a couple of pictures to the Hair Restoration Network, and at the same time, I posted the same pictures to BaldingBlog. I kept tabs on what people thought of my hair on the HRN and Jotronic told me that pictures with flash turned on give out a false image, as the flash makes the scalp more prominent, especially since I've got blonde hair. He told me to post pics of my hair taken in natural lighting, to which I did. Everyone then replied saying I have ZERO hair loss or thinning, and I should stop worrying. I was more than happy with that, until about 10mins ago when I checked my email and noticed I'd had a reply from BaldingBlog. The doctor there said, based on my original flash pictures there was a 'possibility' I had slight hair loss as seen in a picture of my hair wet and standing up, showing a parting down my head. He then said he noticed a 'well combed hairstyle' that covers a 'suggestion' of thinning, whatever that means. I honestly don't comb my hair in a specific way to cover anything at all. I think because he's a doctor, it's messed me up more reading his opinion, because... he's a professional. So I honestly don't know where I stand.

Here's the post on the Blog anyway;

And then here's my latest pics, including the natural light photo's I was advised to take;

Sorry for a new topic and new pictures. Just very confused right now.

Sylent, is that you? Almost identical hair. Anyway, I remember you posted before, you seemed pretty freaked out, and still do, over nothing, you have a tiny forehead and no visible thinning.

Doubt very much that's male pattern baldness! Maturing hairline it might be, but proper balding, no, unless it's the very very early stages. Keep vigilant, but I reckon you're fine.

Sylent? Nope, not me! I've only ever used the pseudonym jonnykino on these forums. Yeah I was, and still am, because growing up I never considered the thought of losing my hair, and I've always been told I've got a good head of hair so it never entered my mind. Then after a comment a year or so a go the worrying get's out of control, 'just in case'. Yeah, I feel my hairline is fine. I keep getting mixed responses of it being the juvenile shape (even though I can see it angles slightly) to it maturing, to it being mature. Either way, I've seen pictures from over three years ago, and the shape hasn't changed, and the density is fine.

It's the part around in front of my crown that bugs me, and the 'parting'. Now, I'm almost positive when I started checking my hair and posting pictures, the part that I'm concerned about was there, and I started posting pics at the end of 2010. But because I've had mixed responses with that, I just don't know. I look in the mirror, it's fine. I take pics outdoors, it's fine. I take a picture with the flash on the camera, or I stand under a harsh light, and you can see more of my scalp just in front of my crown. It's seems fine on my crown, but the part in front throws me.

Oh, thanks for your replies everyone.

Sorry for the double post, but what gives the best evidence of hair loss, photograph-wise? Natural light, flash, wet hair, dry hair etc. Obviously, from the pictures earlier, the natural light pictures look the best, and people who have seen them say my hair is fine. If I look at my hair using mirrors in natural light, it looks fine. If I turn a light on when it's dark, or am under a harsh light, my hair, especially that part in front of my crown, the 'parting' or whatever becomes questionable.

Either way, I found a a pic from exactly a year ago I took of my hair in different conditions, e.g. wet, dry etc. It was taken with a webcam on my old laptop. A time when I used Windows.

Does my hair look any different from there to now?

Sorry about all the questions/nagging.

thanks
