I have 2 concerns that have been lingering ever since I started using propecia. I have been on it for apprx 6 months and have seen on and off shedding with no real conclusions from it yet. My concerns are:
1) ITCH! - A little after I started propecia I've developed an itch all over my scalp. At first it was the back of my scalp, where i've also discovered zits growing. I've never had zits on the back of my head, and even if I did, it has not bothered me the way it has now with the itchiness. Besides the zits, I have random itch spots on top of my scalp almost everywhere. It can happen anytime, and sometimes it gets really itchy. I never used anything for itch before starting propecia because i never had one. Now that Im on propecia, I've rotated nizoral and tgel with occasional tricomin but it still itches. Why is the itch that im having happen to occur only after starting my propecia treatment?
2) HAIR THINS, LOSES COLOR - When I started propecia, I had about 1 inch hair all around. I decided to leave my hair long and thus far I have not cut my hair. What Im really nervous about is what seems to be thinning of my hair after starting propecia. How do I know this? Well, I examine some hairs I shed and I can clearly see how there is tapering in the hair. Im not talkin about the normal last centimeter tapering anyone would get with shedded hairs, but the hair starts tapering and changing to a lighter color from the start of my treatment. For example, since Ive been on propecia for 6 months my hair would have grown apprx 3 inches. Since I had 1 inch of hair prior to treatment, I would compare the thickness with that portion to the bottom 3 inches. This is really getting to me as I have never seen this before.
