Hey guys,

I am new to this forum. I like it alot better than hair loss help. It seems more democratic and run better.

Ok, I have been on propecia 1 mg since 8/99...religiously!
minoxidil 2% from 1987-1991
minoxidil 2% with retina A.025% 1991-99

Recently, went back on monox/retina combo 1/15/06 along with tricomin,
Nizoral 2 x a week and t gel occasionally.

I am a Norwood 2 and 42 yrs old. My hairl loss was always stabilized. I have the receding forehead (power alleys) since 22 but have kept my hair. It is alittle thinner over the yrs but my hair is wavy so It provides good coverage. I am researching into a hair transplant with possibly, Dr Armani ( great hairline work) or Dr Feller.

I wonder if the propecia has acommodated to my body after all these yrs. Is it dose dependent now?? I dont know. I dont want to go off b/c I dont know if it will progress more. No one knows.
Should I look into Xandrox with alzelic acid? I think > 5 % minoxidil could cause heart issues. The absorption in the bloodstream may be an issue. No one talks about this regarding Dr Lees high powered minoxidil comboes.

PLease chime in! Should I alter my regimen? Stay with it?

Best regards,
LG

why do you want to quit finasteride? are you suddenly experiencing a lot of hairloss? personally, i don't buy into the whole finasteride tolerance thing. just because it isn't working as well as it was before, doesn't mean it's not working at all. stopping could cause some serious shedding.

as for minoxidil, i can't really comment, but there are hundreds of posters here who use minoxidil of at least 5% with no reported problems. it's been on the market now for enough time that such issues would be surfacing. if you're hesitant of 15%, why not just try 5%. that should work much better than the 2% you've used in the past.

another consideration is dutasteride. check out the dutasteride forums and see if that is something you would consider. though, if you are weary about xandrox, you probably wouldn't be interested in dutasteride.

keep us posted on your regimine changes and any results. all us younger finasteride users love feedback from veteran users, and personally i'd really like to know what works after finasteride is no longer enough.

well dutasteride has not been approved for hairloss yet, although its getting alot of looks lately. I wont go off the finasteride anytime soon just wondering if its run its course or if anyone else exp'd the same.
