Coming off Finasteride - others experience

I've been taking Finasteride for years now and have experienced a lot of side effects to the extent where I have weaned down for the last 1 - 2 months from EOD to every third day. Its really messing with me sexually. I initially considered taking it for life as per Mercks recommendation because ' when you stop you lose the lot' fear fear fear. ****ing medical establishment at times can really screw 'customers'. They do paid 'trials', another word for experiments, on healthy people knowing that legally there's a good chance they're covered , to find drugs which have other health effects. If you complain about side effects its likely psychological, thereby they control your reality. I digress as that's another issue. If I get persistent side effects then others have taken HRT or v**** etc, again more ****ing drugs to correct other drugs effects. ****ing medical lot turn us into junkies.

I really doubt this is a lifetime drug so we will all have to come off it at some point. I wonder if it can be used on off ?

Can others tell their experience when they came off it please. Did side effects persist ? If yes,how long for? etc etc

I took it for 8.5 years with tolerable sides. Quit because I was no longer comfortable and had started developing small gyno fat tissue.

The first two weeks of quitting were amazing. I felt more powerful energetic and alive. Then I had a crash. Nothing extreme. Just sort of a flat line feeling. It's been years since I've quit and I continually feel better, other than having to deal with hair loss. My erections are stronger and last longer. I have less signs of gyno. I have more endurance. I don't feel as tired and it's easier to get out of bed. Depression continues to be an issue but again this is related to hair loss.

As a veteran my stand point is this. Don't take drugs or try to treat your hair loss. Acceptance is key and just shave or buzz it. It will change who you are and not for the good but at least you can learn acceptance.

The way I see it is life is too short to focus on one area of your life. And you will always be obsessing about your hair or the drugs side effects.

The short my hair the better I feel. The more hair I lose the better i feel cause I just want the whole thing to be over with. I'm hoping there's only two more years before I'm fully full blown bald.

Being bald gives you maturity, character, and can be a powerful thing. Just don't do a comb over or try to hide it.

I've made the mistake of complaining about my hair loss. Never do this! Always come off as you don't give a damn and accept it.

I'm here because finasteride and hair loss has deeply effected my life. I stay on top of post finasteride syndrome as much as possible.

When I read posts from people that interest me I want to give my 2 cents. Unfortunately most of the posts on here are all bro science and here say.

Take this if you will:

If the 30 year old version of myself could go back in time and give the 18 year old version of myself advice it would be this:

Do not take finasteride or try to treat your hair loss.

Slybaldguys is an interesting site but there isn't a lot of depth. There solution is to shave your head. That's it and nothing more.

I tried it and decided buzzing it is better. But I would rather be buzzed with no hair on the top rather than having thin weird patches of it forming a clown hair pattern.

Do you think the Finastride really messed with you then as I had a stack of sides and been coming off it these past months. I have noticed changes that I didn't attribute to finasteride. I'm aiming to get a little more mileage from finasteride if my body will tolerate it but not indefinitely, likely on twice a week dose. At the moment im trying to build libido. I hadn't heard about permanent sides before coming on here so its another consideration.

You mentioned about Slybaldguys not having enough depth. If your looking for this you could try studying around identity and possibly the beauty concept.

If you like your appearence buzzed no problem, if not why not consider a piece as they seem to be no more hassle than natural hair in terms of maintenance ?

I reckon if it gets that far I may test drive one.

I think a piece is living a lie. Yes a lot of men wear them but these men are secretly judged for wearing one.

I'm fine with my looks. If people want to judge me or laugh at me for being bald (and they will) so be it.

The other day my delusional neighbor who is moving into a retirement home saw me for the first time in a while and started laughing saying I'm getting old. Look at David he's bald haha!

The guy has a few years left to live and finds joy in the fact that I'm now bald. You know what though, I don't care.

Vanity is a never ending thing you can never win. You will get old and die. Wrinkles, grey hair, liver spots, old man musk, nose hair, ear hair, old man ponch, etc.

I don't need to be obsessing over hair and it's liberating it buzz it down. I recommend anything from 1/8" to half an inch.

And guess what. Many girls don't care. Especially as you get older. They start greying, their cooch menopauses, they get wrinkles, saggy tits, wide spread hips, etc. plus their friends husbands start balding, their friends boyfriends start balding meanwhile the 40 year old nw1 is still fussing about his hair like a pathetic 14 year old boy. Be a man. Man up!

If you are fine with baldness then why are you depressed about it ?

I reckon Yoshis probably true about Vanity. I would add it's likely the accepting part which is necessary for transcending the whole hair thing to avoid obsession.
