Cold Weather Vs Baldness, Generic Vs Branded Finasteride

Hi guys,

1) Does the harsh cold weather (Canada for example) accelerate the balding progress or make follicles more and more sensitive to DHT ? I am quite concerned about this since I am traveling to Canada for my study and my brother, who ended up shaving his head due to baldness, blamed that it was due to the harsh cold weather. Well, this might not be true, but it just freaks me out. Desperately need advice

2) I saw quite a number of online pharmacy in Canada (for example: globalcarerx.com) that offering generic finasteride at a very appealing price (10 CAD for 100 tabs of generic from India). Are they reliable or scam ? Is the generic finasteride from India reliable ? Sound too good to be true ?

3) Is the generic finasteride as effective as branded ones (propecia) ? By right, it is expected to perform the same, however, I just want to hear from those who tried the generic.

4) What are the best / common generic finasteride in the market right now ?

5) Will FDA strictly control the quality of generic finasteride that is produced outside the US (for example, those generic finasteride from India, Thailand, etc.) ? Or they just dont care and consumers have to take at their own risk ?

I am just going to give my opinion on the generic vs. brand. The consensus is that generics are the same if they have the same active ingredient in the same quantity. It would make sense that this was the case.

However I have taken generics vs. brand name of different drugs and can tell you that at least for the two drugs I am referencing, this was not the case. The generics gave me physical side effects that were horrible that were not present at all on the brand. The brand just worked better and it really makes no sense on why it did. When I researched online it seemed that a whole host of people said the same thing about these drugs.

I often wonder if a lot of the bad experiences with Finasteride is due to most people taking generics now. A lot of the success stories are people use the brand name and the brand name was what was studied after all. Though of course, people who take generic versions still report success. There is no rhyme or reason for this, except I know for a fact that at least with certain drugs, brand name is better. Which is why I decided to just pay more for Propecia as opposed to generic Finasteride.

Thanks a lot for your comment. Per my understanding, the most important ingredients, finasteride, is the key to halt baldness. The only difference is those inactive ingredients such as binders, coloring, etc, which may cause some different side effects as compared to the branded ones. Wonder if this is the case. Correct me if I am wrong.

Now, may I ask if the generic finasteride is of any difference to the branded finasteride ?
