I'm only 22 but over the past 6 months my hairline has been thinning at the temples and now the entire front has this layer of thinning hairs.

I really really really don't want to go bald so I'm thinking about starting .5mg finasteride.

What are the chances this will actually prevent further loss? Im not looking to regrow since my hairloss is in the early stages but I can tell its speeding up so the goal is to maintain how it currently is. I want to take action ASAP. As a young black man, my hairline is important lol I don't have lol straight hair to cover it. It's a main feature of my face

No one can tell you how effective it will be. You just have to try it and see.

According to studies, you have around an 80% chance of maintaining your hair where it was when you started. Some people call BS on it, however you gotta realize that people that have had negative experiences on the drug are more likely to be vocal about it on these forums. If you had a positive experience on it, why would you have a reason to come back here?
