after checking the Nutritional info on the back of Centrum and Kroger brand, they both equate to the same percentages, so I went with Kroger. Much cheaper? Bad idea? Why?

I've heard from a few different people that those brands are crap and to go to a health food store to get a good multi. They can actually be toxic to some people's systems.

I agree this is true with some of the garbage on the internet, but I honestly think grocery store and drug store centrum like multi's should be ok. I used walgreens for awhile and did just fine. But the cheapo multi on the bottom shelf, you might want to stay away from those. Big grocery and drugstore chains have too much to lose by putting THEIR name on the label with useless vitamins. There is simply too much to lose with so little gain from the sale.

But! Years ago 20/20 or someone did a report on centrum and the like not dissolving in the stomach and it being wasted. Since then all of those companies have used different coating on the pills to counteract this.

I read one study that showed only 5% was absorbed by the body.
I would imagine that a multi that was 90+% soluable would be preferable. Now, with the new coating you mentioned, perhaps more is ingested into the body.

This is an interesting topic. Cause I am searching for a good multi! After I finish my bottle of Centrum, I am going shopping.

I get a lot of my vitamins from Puritan's Pride, and, although I haven't bought it, I've seen their Multi- that's called "Green Source" or something like that. Not only does it have the basic A-E vitamins, but it has a ton of herbs and essential fatty acids. Looks like a great multivitamin.
