How is it determined? Only one derm. checked my hair and said that I have normal hair and my blood results turned normal as well, but he only checked with his eyes not with any specific tool. Most people say that one should get a buzzcut to find out if he has hair loss, but is it true?

Maybe yes. A derm I saw many years ago said someone needs to lose 50 percent of their density for it to become noticeable to others. So you could be losing hair a long time before anyone can tell anything including a dermatologist so they might not see enough to say its male pattern baldness early on.
On the other hand until male pattern baldness becomes visible to others is it really worth worrying about? Id argue no. The current state of male pattern baldness treatments is not that great you dont want to risk hormone drugs unless its major male pattern baldness.
Love propecia or hate it I think its tough to argue that a hormone altering drug for your entire life is a good thing to do vs the chances its going to effect something negatively. There is a lot we dont know about how hormones work.
