Can we settle this Propecia issue once and for all?!

I hear some claims from users that Propecia can mess with eyebrows and facial hair (thin them out)- Is there ANY truth to this? If so, is there a scientific logic behind it? Or does finateride have no affect on them?

Also, can finasteride interfere with the aging process, where it'll change the way you develop from say, 20 years old on. Or is its cosmetic effect simply on hair?

Thanks!

If estrogen levels increase, I think it would be very possible to thin your beard or eyebrows.

The answer to your question doesn't relate to estrogen. There is a correlation between body hair thickening and head hair thinning. I am not quite sure that the correlation has been solidly defined but it is very common for guys to experience body hair reduction (we're talking EXTREMELY MINIMAL to the point that you almost don't notice it) when on Propecia. Its harmless and in fact is very welcomed by 90% of guys.

As you may notice, many men who go bald report thickening of body hair as well.

As far as eyebrows, most guys report eyebrow itching, irritation, shedding, tingling ... its all part of the change in the "T" section of the fact that Propecia can bring about. I would have itchy eyebrows and would watch them fall out as I scratched. Again NOT to the extent that you can even see a difference. Its not that big of a deal.

I just put a little nizoral on the eybrow area and that got rid of the itchiness and shedding. Its no different than letting the inflammation go on your scalp, and watching your hair shed because of it.

No big deal either way, honestly.

Are you sure a rise in estrogen would not cause "thinning" of body hair?? Pretty sure that I read it somewhere, if I can find it I will post it.

HairLossTalk.com---if you are still there....

Is four months into finasteride too late to (a. still be shedding hairs that are thinner at the bulb end
(b. have had absolutely no change in facial or body hair?

Would these things indicate I am not a responder?

To add, I suggest trimming your eyebrows, for one. Try it, you'll like the resutts. I used a 5 setting, I think. It doesn't look that different, but it feels and looks better..

Plus, I htink my pubes thinned out a bit, but it's all good. I also know that minoxidil casued my gd beard to come in thicker.

borracho borrach borracho!!! =)
