I hear a burnt scalp is not condusive to hair growth... I always remember in the summer months around late August and september my hair is the thinnest it has been all year. I think it is from the sun exposure and sweat from my scalp and thin area's. I use a dew rag when I am in the sun to protect my scalp.

Hair is actually a specialized form of skin cells. Skin does rather poorly in its response to being sunburned (free radical damage, cross linking and the like).

I would suggest that is enough info for us to avoid burning our scalps!!
