So went to the doctor yesterday to get some blood tests and ask about the red rash type thing around my nose/eyes and excessive dandruff and he said I have seborrhoeic dermatitis and recommended I use, wait for it - Nizoral. Cream for the face and shampoo for scalp.

So I already use nizoral shampoo so just wondering if I'm using it correctly. I use it twice a week and leave it on for 5 mintues each time then use a head and shoulders conditioner afterwards. What do you guys do?

Also can this be the cause of hairloss or be Exacerbating the problem?

I don't think these 2 are related, theres lots of ppl who have only seb. dermatitis but no balding and vice versa. It's bad luck, and I got the same.

Seb Derm is highly associated with male pattern baldness, and ... off the record ... i have a completely unscientific theory that you may even be able to buy a few years of staving off hair loss if you are able to control it, in the beginning.

Thanks for the replies. So if i'm using nizoral 3 times a week and its not helping what do you suggest?

T-Gel? And do I condition afterwards?

I just realized that I have seb. dermatitis, it's funny that the derm didn't confirm that when I visited him. I have flaky and itchy skin mostly on my forehead and sides of the nose, but not really anywhere else on the face. Of course I got itchy and flaky scalp aswell, which probably adds to my balding... should get it under control asap, but I just don't know how. Nizoral's no good for me, been there done that. I'm probably gonna give betamethasone another shot, it seemed to help somewhat when I last tried it.

betamethasone is ok, the only problem is that for long time use its not recommended since its a steroid, I've somewhat controlling my SB with homeopathy.

Yeah I'll probably use it daily for a week, then week off and see what happens. Homeopathy? how exactly are you doing it?

Yeah I'll probably use it daily for a week, then week off and see what happens.

Sides of betamethasone are: Acne; cracking and stinging of the skin; dryness; excessive hair growth; inflamed hair follicles; itching; skin irritation.

the excessive hair growth cant be that bad.

You are a very brave person, and this theory is now more supported, commonsense will triumph.

:bravo:

In my oppinion problems with sebum are the process that point out hairs to be attacked by androgens.

Yeah I'd love the excessive hair growth side-effect :agree: . I didn't notice the others when I was using it, I think it helped with the itch a lot.
