Can proscar stop working after 3-4 months of working?

I started using proscar in April and right after 1-2 weeks of starting, my hairloss almost stopped completely and I used to shed like 1-2 hairs /day. From september my hairloss started again and now I am losing my hairs really fast.
Is it possible for a drug to stop working after 4 months? Do I need to try Avodart?
