Can propecia stunt bone growth in teenagers?

Well, i am not a finasteride buff but i have a basic understanding of how it works. I know it functions primarily to reduce dht in the scalp tissues while also having an effect on the prostate. I sort of get confused when i hear its an anti androgen too. Either way, my main question is whether is can stunt bone growth.

I believe it stops dht because it somehow converts testosterone to something else? Like i said, i am no buff. I thought i read that it converts all the free testosterone to estrogen or through some effect something bad is converted to estrogen. If that is in fact the case then it would most definately stunt growth in teenagers/young adults still growing. Estrogen is why growth plates close (ie girls stop growing at earlier age).

Is more estrogen produced in the body when taking finasteride? Do blocking androgen receptiors at an early age also have a bad effect on growth/maturing body?

I actually used to take propecia for a few months until my medical doctor told me not too. He knew i was concerned about growth and said it could have an effect.

I am 20 and a half right now but i still seem to be growing slightly. Im 5'7 so i could use all the height i can get.

I want to start propecia eventually but dont want to stunt any growth left in my body.

Any help?

i cannot imagine anyone starting to lose their hair from male pattern baldness who do not have the epiphyseal cartilaginous plates already sealed and closed, thus, no more bone growth possible

I have slowly been loosing my hair since 9th grade althought it has been very gradual into my current state of a norwood 1.5-2. My plates were obviously not fused back then as i have grown probably 4-5 inches since that time. I still seem to be growing also.

Lol, i dont think it will hurt ur dick length dude. I just dont want to be any shorter than my body's maximum potiental.

if anything, i would say the DHT has an effect on the body that would decrease bone growth...

the average mail grows until about 18, some continue on till 21, but thats about it, i highly doubt you would squeak out another 1/4 an inch
