Hi guys,

I am suffering from massive shedding and my dr suspect me reaching nw5 eventually if didn't treat it. Tries first propecia but had to quit due to severe side effects. Now my only hope was minoxidil and tried it now for 3 weeks when I suddenly started to feel dizzy and headache and in the night time my heart work faster than usual. I went back to my dr and he just told me to quit minoxidil without even doing any tests. The problem is that these 2 the only medications remaining and I can't just accept balding as it doesn't suits me at all.

My question is if I ignored my dr advice and continue with minoxidil will there be any further effect after many years from now? Because meanwhile the slight dizziness and fast heart rate doesn't really bother me.

Best regards.

There is no answer for that. I mean there could be some long lasting effect so why not just listen to your doctor?
You could try just using less minoxidil or taking tiny doses of finasteride. If its changing your heart rate a noticeable amount though you should be talking to a doctor about what you could try. A stroke or heart attack is much worse then hair loss.

Thanks for your reply :)

Just listening to my dr means I am out of luck and should accept baldness. finasteride doesn't suits me even one tablet a week made lots of sexual problems and shortness of breath. But minoxidil is way less effect and the dr didn't even do any physical check on me just when I told him what happened he recommended to quit rogaine. What am feeling is slight dizziness after a minute of applying the topical, and sometimes very occasionally a faster heart beat that lasts for few seconds thats it. I am leaning towards continue using the treatment I just need to know the long term effect will it get worse? do some degree of damage to the heart? any long term minoxidil user like 20+ years around?

Best regards,

Best regards,

I have used it for 25 years. No damage to the heart but it has not saved my hair by itself... the two things may be linked.
