Can male pattern baldness Stop At a Certain Point?

Im 20, and have one of those wonderful, broken, genetically messed up hairlines everyone hates.

My grandfather on my mums side was bald by 27. My grandfather on my father's side had a receding hairline when he was in his 20s. My father has had a receding hairline ever since he was 20. My father is in his late 50s now and his hair looks exactly the same as it did in his photos when he was 23-25ish.

Enough of the numbers.

Is it possible to inherit a receding hairline that recedes to a certain point, and then just stops for the remainder of your early-mid adult life? Or is male pattern baldness a total degenerating process that never regresses?

Yeah... my hairline receeded to a "widow's peak" type shape, and stayed that way until my early thirties.

Yes it is possible to inherit a receding hairline that recedes to a certain point, and then just stops for the remainder of your early-mid adult life.
You may just suffer diffuse thinning for the rest of your youthful life.

Hair loss is unpredictable.

I really hope that's my case. I don't have any hairloss in my family at all. My father's 55 and has a full head of thick hair, as do his brothers and my cousins from his side. My mother's side is slightly different. My uncles on this side have naturally deep hairlines like myself, but they're in their 40s and 50s. My grandfather (father's mother) died at 60 with a full head of black hair. I hope this is truly my case. As of right now, I'm about a NW1.5 or so, and I have been for as long as I can remember. I'm currently experiencing some diffuse thinning but I hope to keep the hair that I have now for a long time. We'll see what happens. If I can make it to 35 or 40 with a NW2 or 2.5, I'll be a happy camper. I'm 25 now so by that time I'm thinking HM will definitely be available and hopefully affordable.

I can tell u, It does not depend on your father. MAternal grand dad and mother matters most according tot he latest research.
My own step dad (not real father) is bald before 40. His own father died with an amazing thick head of hair while his mum had some form of hair thinning. All his brothrs were bald before 35 while their father had a thick head. This tells me something about their mum's side.

Looking at your parents or extended family is NO guarantee of where *you* are going. Period. Using HM as one's 'fall back' plan is beyond stupid. Most guys here have ZERO knowledge when it comes to hair transplants let alone HM... Just wishful thinking and what they would like it to be. Furthermore, you can bet your *** it will be expensive for many years to come when it first comes out. Even a 'regular' hair transplant can be quite costly (20k for strip and 100K + for high graft FUE). HM is not going to be the poor man's way of getting one's hair back ROFL.

At the first sign of losing one's hair getting on Finasteride or Dutasteride is critical if one wants to maintain what they have using TODAY'S science. Start thinking about tomorrow's science when 'tomorrow' gets here

My two cents

Damn, Socks. You're on a roll.

Great advice here, guys.

The best treatments we have that interfere with the natural act male-pattern baldness are finasteride and dutasteride.
