TWO Qestions to you -
Could you explain what happens with the guys who don't have androgen receptors?

and, in all the reading you have done, could you explain how the type of hair is determind, and have there been any attempts to change the type of hair ? or anything like that?
I have curelled hair, and i'd love it to be straight.

Thanks...

1)

Guys who don't have androgen receptors are the most beautiful girls imaginable. Google it, and be shocked!

2)

We barely know how male pattern baldness occurs, what controls straigh and curled hair is somewhat low on the priority list. Lucky there's something called a hair straightener!

I don't understand if you were cynical or not , But girls do have androgen rceptors one should think...

The shape of the dermal papilla determines curl in hair from what Ive read. A "c" shaped (its not #really# shaped like a C, but somewhat curved) papilla will shoot out keratin (what your hair is more or less made of) in a curly pattern.

There are chemical straighteners that can be used on hair. Keep em' off you scalp though. Pretty tough on that.

By the way guys, everybody has androgen receptors.

Some men have more than others, and a few (very few) have androgen sensitivity syndrome, which means some of their receptors dont uptake male hormones.

There may be some condition or other that might see little receptor expression in this tissue or that, but it would not be normal.

The variant of the androgen receptor gene found by German scientists that 98.6% of bald men have, is shared by 76.1% of men with all their hair. Go figure. Its your hair's response to androgens

Yes, I was talking about androgen sensitivity syndrome. What happens with the guys who have that ? I mean I guess they don't go bald, but what else

People without androgen receptors look extremely feminine.. what I was implying was that guys with androgen receptor mutations are very stunning "females", but they are genetically male. Also, most have some sort of reminance of "manhood".. quite scary.

More models than you want to know have these mutations.

to change hair type, they would have to do some type of gene therapy and change the DNA (maybe in the future for male pattern baldness too). Your DNA codes the proteins for your hair, an its the type of protein that you have that determines whether its curly and color
