My 13 yr old son has had some kind of hair loss since he was the age of 10. He is completely bald. He has seen a specialist who currently has placed him on taking thyroid pills. In addition we apply a steroid cream on his scalp. We have been doing both treatments for 3 months and unfortunately we see no progress of hair growth.

Now my 8 yr old daughter is going through hair loss and quite a bit. Her hair is just falling out with patches on both sides of her head. In addition, recently her hair became so tangled that its like her hair took on some kind life. We just don't know what to do & are so frustrated. We are going to bring her to a specialist in the near future, but I'm afraid the specialist might tell us the same old thing that was told to us about our son.

I hope by joining this forum someone can help us who has gone through this similar situation/problem. As parents we feel so helpless that we can't help our kids.

make sure that they test for a gluten or celiac disease it is very common for this to be linked to hairloss.

Although hair loss rarely needs to be treated, many people seek treatment for cosmetic reasons.Minoxidil is available as a lotion you rub on your scalp every day. It's available from pharmacies without a prescription. It's not clear how minoxidil works, but evidence suggests it can cause hair regrowth in some men. You can follow my instruction my advice.Thank you.

Blood tests to check---TSH (ultrasensitive TSH), Celiac panel, and inflammation (CRP, ANA, or even ESR). Good luck!

Seek professional help and let the doctors do what they think is best, I don't think that following people's ideas is the right way to go.
