So i got my blood tests back and testosterone came in the normal-abovenormal range for my age group, prolactin, cortisol all within normal range... the only thing that worries me is my estro, the range was 74-170 and i came in at 183... Now my Doctor said its fine and its nothing significant and she told me before i even consider dropping propecia to lose at least 30 more pounds (currently 220 at 5'11). She also told me its nothing to worry about considering all my other hormones are within normal range.

This definitely put put my mind at ease but id still like to get my estrogen under control. I could imagine how high my estro was when i first took finasteride and got the real gyno sides... thank god i got that all under control but this high estrogen for a 23 year old still makes me feel uneasy.. if anyone has had any success keeping their estrogen low while on finasteride please let me know.

Does anybody know how meaningful and accurate these ranges are?

I'm a 32 year-old male, who has quit finasteride for several months now. The range for estradiol-17B was less than 130 when I took the test (with no suggested minimum, and I had quit finasteride for 5 weeks), and I got 126.

It's generally agreed that losing body fat will lower estrogen, since fat cells produce aromatase which converts testosterone to estrogen. I'm 5'11 as well. I was ~240 lbs in April 2015, I am now ~190 lbs and I'm trying to lose 15 more. Let me know if you'd like to know more.

It might be helpful for this forum to have an omnibus "Weight, Athleticism and Nutrition" Thread.
