If that were true nobody in England would have went bald in the 1700\1800s.

Did they not use milk then?

We're still a nation of tea drinkers, but we pour in cow juice like there's no tomorrow which definitely has an effect on the catechins?

The black tea used in any studies would not have had milk.

I drink my tea without milk simply because i'm too tight to pay into the 'milk kitty' at work.

Then I suppose you shouldn't be here, since black tea should be stopping your hair loss.

Easy tiger!

I'm not claiming that drinking black tea stops my hair loss, or anyones for that matter, I don't the concentrations used are in these things, neither do you know the amount of tea that i drink and it was a study done in meece. I've read through the debates on both green and black teas and anecdotally its pretty obvious that tea consumption alone would not be enough, after all this is a pretty old study.

I'm just wondering whether or not you made your assumption on the english and tea drinking based upon tea with milk or without milk i honestly have no idea whether or not it used to be drunk with milk, I mean how would it have been refrigerated, the point about milk ruining some of the health benefits* is mentioned in the other thread that its linked to, so i thought it was fair to raise it again, as a question. Like a lot of things health related its whether or not a marginal change could help.

Rawktash well spotted, I mainly drink both white and black tea, depending on what kind of caffiene kick i need.

* I've since found out i was wrong to refer to catechins as they're not all that prevalent in black tea.

One other thing, and if i'm wrong on this i wouldn't mind being corrected. I read that DHT is produced locally in the hair so serum DHT levels might not be the best indicator for how hairloss is being tackled, theres the two types of AR to consider as well.

Actually, ... taken from the study

Exclusive consumption of strongly brewed Black Tea as done by rats in this study to obtain a decrease in DHT and increase in Testosterone would not be practical for humans

So that's why our crown needs a crown.

He said "tea" not "black tea".

Most tea is black tea, unless you live in Japan where green tea is the norm.
