Hi, I was wondering if you guys thought it'd be best to take finasteride in the morning or night?

I think most tend to take in the morning but i thought that way, surely you would deal with any onset of side effects more so than if you applied it at night as the levels of it in your blood may have gone down by the time you're out and about the following day.

Got my first lot of finasteride the other day. Took one at night, haven't taken another yet.

What's people's thoughts on this?

ukmale24 I took finasteride at night at around 7:30 or about an hour after dinner. I had tried finasteride in the morning but couldn't bare the sides throughout the day. Taking finasteride at night should be the best as by morning sides should be minimal.

Nonsense. This isn't some hour by hour pain medication.

How is this nonsense, I was simply stating what I myself have experienced with finasteride. For me the side effects appear to fade over time. The sides may or may not be the same for others on finasteride. In my experience I took it in the morning and started feeling side effects an hour later. I decided to take finasteride at night and I noticed a decrease in the sides. Maybe I'm sleeping through them, if I am getting any sides throughout the day I haven't noticed. So in conclusion, because my theory is nonsense you can take it whenever you like.

i started taking it at night so i think ill just continue to do so.

mr_reeses, that's the theory that was in my head. it's not so much 'them' sides im bothered about, but i thought the supression of dht may make me tired and i wouldnt want to be tired throughout the day, so i thought it just made sense to take at night. i could be wrong but it's no biggy either way.

Mod Sorry I replied, unlike some people who view and don't reply I just felt I had to share...

And if it matters if it is a placebo effect that I am experiencing then I guess I am lucky. Bonus for me. :)

ukmale24 I'm not 100% on the tiredness although I hadn't felt it from finasteride. Sorry I couldn't be of any help. Hope you do well on finasteride and regrow some hair :)

Mr Reese is right. As someone who takes finasteride regularly and has had some weird side effects I can say I have tried to figure out why this happens to me too. I've tried to figure this out in the best, most scientific way possible but I do experience side effects about an hour after taking finasteride, and as the day goes on they start to disappear. This has happened every single day I have taken finasteride for more than a year.

This obviously does not happen to most people and I cannot for the life of me figure out what it is. If I take finasteride at night I notice a large difference in noticeable side effects. It's basically like my sex drive takes a hit of 30-40%, but by the end of the day is almost entirely back to 100%. If I take it at night, I don't really experience it as much.

Either way I do have a loss of morning wood when I wake up.

Sorry for the scare type story, I would still recommend taking finasteride and it seems that for most people it does not matter what time of day you take it.

Mr Reese I'm gonna send you a PM, been trying to find someone with a problem similar to mine for months now.

If you are thinking about what time to take finasteride, then you are overthinking things. Just relax and take it whenever, but make sure it's every day
