Best to start with Propecia first then add Rogaine later?

Can't seem to decide if I just go with propecia to start with and then add Rogaine or try them both at once? Really don't have a clue, without having to read every post on this website to find out.....is there a consensus opinion on this? Advantages/Disadvantages of 1 strategy vs 2 at one time? From what I've read so far propecia would help stop the losss but more likely Rogaine would help for regrowth.

I just started thinning in my crown area and have limited loss in the hairline area which I'm not as concerned with. Boy this is depressing the hell out of me. Trying to deal with job stress and this now is taking a toll on me.

Thanks for any feedback.

Propecia first, rogaine later. That way you can see if the propecia is doing anything for you.

Absolutely agree. In fact you may decide you don't even need rogaine if the propecia works well.

welcome to hair hell.

You are right in thinking propecia will slow or (if you are lucky) stop your hair loss and Rogaine will stimulate some regrowth.

Also consider using Nizoral Shampoo (2% version) 2 or three times a week.

Good Luck.

Go for the Proscar first for sure. I have been on it for three years and think its worked for sure... probably even grew more hair, im 25 now. Started minoxidil recently but have stopped as i think its not really for me right now for a few reasons... one im not quite prepared for the maintenance twice a day at this stage in my life... it seemed to dramatically degrade the quality of all my hair, i lost alot of it in the process, it stressed me out looking at my hairline every day so close. Im sure i will get going on it again but maybe in a year or two... for now, i think im happier without the minoxidil... so for you, id take Rogain later if possibe... especially if your hairloss isn't really that bad from someone elses perspective... and its probably not as bad as you think.

Think positive and you'll be happier... i am.

re:

What you all did not point out is that one must give propecia a year to work in order to evaluate its success (or lack there of), yet if you wait an entire year with no minoxidil then you could be losing hair follicles that could have been saved if they were stimulate by minoxidil. I am not saying you are wrong, I just think that people need to understand both sides of the issue.
For me, I could not risk lsing more hair before adding minoxidil to the mix. I do only use the minoxidil approx 10 times a week because it dries out my scalp and (in my opinion) a dry scalp is a bad place to grow hair on. I feel like the finasteride/minoxidil mix is making my hair look better, but the downside is I have no clue if it is the finasteride, minoxidil or both. Of course I do not really care as I plan on continuing the two until I no longer care about the number of hairs on my head. I am also a diffuse thinner and receeding so I am a "worst case" baldie.....

this is also something worth considering....

The battle against male pattern baldness is filled with such Catch 22's. Welcome to the jungle, baby.
