Hello,
Im currently in the process of quitting minoxidil.
Im quitting because I have only receded since i started plus the damaged skin scares me.

What should be the best method to quitting it?
Has anyone been able o avoid a major shed?

The past 2 weeks ive been not using it every 2 days. When should i use it even less?

Regarding finasteride, should i wait until my hair has recovered from minoxidil probable shed or should i start it now?

Im 18 and have been applying minoxidil once a day in my temples(which have been left with a "gap" in the place where minoxidil was applied) and in the crown(my dermatologist told me to apply it for prevention, shes was very ignorant btw) for about a year and 3 or 4 months now.
Btw recently ive discovered that ive been applying a little more than the recommended dose. My dermatologist told me to apply a total of 10 minoxidil sprays which i now know its about 1.5ml, dont really know if that matters.

you can quit because of damaged skin if you want but I guarantee you that you will lose more hair if you stop minoxidil. You will likely get a major shed (almost certainly will)

Start finasteride as soon as possible

But if I want to quit how should I do temper off of it?

I will.

thank you.

doesn't matter how you temper off it in the long run

and only if you have no shed when you discontinue stopping it does that mean "you shouldn't have started it" because if you were to stop and get no shed, that would mean it wasn't helping you. If you get a shed after stopping it means it was working.

Considering I have had in no point in time regrownth should i expect the shed to be very noticible or not?

I dont think its that simple, my hair is now "addicted" to it anyways isnt it?

btw whats your opinion on minoxidil effect on skin?

You don't know if you have regrowth, the male pattern baldness may have progressed very far under the "illusion" that you have not lost any hair since starting. You are under the misconception that no regrowth = failure of treatment. Even if you lost a little, it may have been much worse had you never touched minoxidil. Especially since you are so young an extremely aggressive loss of hair such as that is possible. I don't think minoxidil's effects on the skin are serious
