I tried finasteride for 6 months and got horrible sides
Cut the dose in half and it took me 4 months after completely stopping to lose all sides

Any alternatives? Dua seems a no-no for me too

You'll struggle to find any other LEGAL DHT blockers other than finasteride and dua.

There is no alternative except from minoxidil but it's most of the time not enough to hold your hair.

Just out of curiosity, how long did it take you to experience side effects from taking finasteride?

2 months in started getting sides and they were very minor until about 5 months in so I started cutting dose.
