consult with a Dr???????

just wondering. my derm suggested propecia but never really ran any tests to see what was causing my hair loss.

after reading this i was intrigued..

FACT:
Only two hair restoration medications have been approved by the FDA after testing for safety and efficacy in clinical trials. These are the topical medication minoxidil (Rogaine®) and the orally administered prescription medication finasteride (Propecia®). Safety and efficacy information for these medications is clearly stated, as required by the FDA, in Product Information provided with the product. Neither product “guaranteesâ€￾ to stop hair loss or stimulate growth of new hair because hair loss can be due to many causes that may or may not be treatable by the medications. Finasteride (Propecia®) is available only by prescription from a physician. While minoxidil (Rogaine®) is available as an over-the-counter topical medication, both finasteride and minoxidil are most effective when used as recommended by a physician hair restoration specialist, after the cause of hair loss is correctly diagnosed.

I personally think going to a derm is a waste of time and energy in most cases. You can find all the info you need on this site. You can send me another check HairLossTalk.com.

I went to a derm and he told me I had male pattern baldness. My cause of hair loss is that my ancestors had it. If you have male pattern baldness on either side of your family, your hair loss is probably due to genetics. Though it can be due to other things. I think hair loss that is due to things other than male pattern baldness won't form the signature Norwood pattern though. If you are concerned see a doctor.
