Been using finasteride 2 years now, but shedding has accelerated. What to do?

Hello all, I'm 29 years old going on 30 in February. Had a Norwood 2 for a long time but in the last 6+ months have aggressively gone towards an aggressive Norwood 3, probably even a 4. I have oily hair and need to wash it daily. I pat dry and then blow dry to give a "full" effect, little combing.

I've been using Finasteride for approximately 2 years now. At first it worked wonders, stopped all shedding, by taking 1/2 a pill per day. Now, it doesn't matter anymore if I even take a whole pill, I am shedding plenty and my hair on top has gotten very thin. Within another 6-12 months I could easily see myself at an advanced Norwood 4 to 5. I fear if I go off medication I will lose what little I got on my hairline.

I've gotten a consultation before on a hair transplant but I don't like the idea of cutting my scalp open. FUE would be preferable but it's not something I can afford right now, nor take the time off work. What other options exist out there? How far away is the research on hair cloning and such? Should I switch medications? I have no prostate issues, so would a doctor even prescribe me dutasteride?

Thanks in advance.

Feel your pain man...I am about 15 months in and things have gotten much worse. When I have come to the forums for advice and opinions they immediately get shut down because finasteride could never ever cause hair loss to get worse...it's impossible. I think you'll find the same treatment from others when you pose this idea and/or just ignored entirely.

Wish I had never started treating my hair loss. It has just grown worse at a faster rate.
