Based on my family history where would you say I am at?

I will get pics up ASAP. But to some it up I would say i am a N2. Using the method that the guy who runs balding blog posted, I am well within the mature hairline range, as right now the recession at the temples is less than an inch from my highest wrinkle on the forehead(but higher on the right side for whatever reason) and pretty much the same in the center. I am 20 years old. The thing is though, it has been like that since I was in 11th grade maybe even earlier. Its strange, it might have got a little worse or not at all but its hard to tell since the earliest pics I have are from my senior year in high school. Regardless, the hairline is the only thing im worried about, as my crown has no thinning, and my hair elsewhere is as healthy as it has always been.

Here it what confuses me though. Typically a person in my situation would be best advised to look as family history but again that is a mixed bag(but it might be in my favor). From what I read you can inherit male pattern baldness from either mom or dad, but if its from your dads side, you inherit it from him and it doesnt go any further back, obviously that isnt true from your mom's side. So, on my mom's father had hair and was a N2, My dad is 50 and is basically a N2, with some slight thinning at the crown. But his father was full out bald, as is his half brother(same father).

So what I am asking is, can you inherit male pattern baldness from your paternal grandfather? Pics in as soon as i can find them.

The first pic sucks as my head is tilted hiding the side that is worse, and my hair is longer and combed down on the side that is showing. The pic I took tonight was just taken, and was taken with my bangs combed straight up and back, as to not hide anything. I would say adjusting for all that they are very similar. If it stays like it is now, and i eventually end up like my dad(a little bit worse at 55) or my maternal grandfather(basically the same but greys eventually) I will be fine. What I dont want is for this progress much further before the age of 30.

As for other signs of male pattern baldness, I havent noticed any hairs in the shower or on my pillow and i can run my hand through my head without any falling out. All the hairs I currently have are normal, but from where my hairline was, I have noticed about a half inch recession on both temples.

Looks like you might have a bit of receding hair, but impossible to tell for sure with those pics.

The truth is what im looking for. I took that second pic with my sisters camera and i dont know how to take that black and white feature off. However even though my hair blends in, it is spiked up and back in the front in that second pic, so you can clearly see my hairline which is what is important. My hair is as thick as always, but the hairline has receded to about 1/2-3/4 of an inch at each temple, from my juvenile hairline.

Im not really asking for an assessment of my hair, I know where Im at in that regard. What I am asking for is a long term prognosis to the best of your ability given the recession at the temple and no other changes, and my family history.
