Bald spot developing in crown?

Just wondering in this photo, on the left side of the split looking down, the area that you see the hair strands or roots where it's kind of brown/peachish, are these hairs that are thinning or miniaturizing or is this just normal? This is the area right next to see where you can physically see the thin line of scalp and not sure if I'm crazy but if this is a huge bald spot in the development in that area?

Also is this something that you could thicken up or possibly be affected or fill up from rogaine or propecia and something that should be addressed immediately?

Thanks guys..it's just been really messing with me.

Also too, don't know if it really makes a difference but this is with a flash on the camera.

Thanks for your time to comment Looseitall....I know that I'm probably too paranoid for my own good.

Probably being over-paranoid but with those who have taken minoxidil and/or finasteride, what kind of result would you think that I would have on this? I have always had this split forever here but would it fill in those thin hairs on the left side of the split? Thanks everyone!!

i dont believe in finasteride and min for prevention. u should wait til u definately have male pattern baldness, cos lots of ppl get big sheds and it takes 2 yrs b4 they are above baseline again.

its not like u take it and nothing happens. first ur hair will fall out, and u dont know how much will regrow. so imo its a bad idea to take it. u r being paranod, lots of people have that shape back there.

that being said, i dont have a crystal ball, it could turn into male pattern baldness. its anybodies guess. u need to see a dermitologist and get a miniturization study done

your hair does not "always fall out"

i got on the big 3 and didn't experience any shedding.

Hey guys, not to bring this discussion around again but have a question...by looking at this photo attached, those hairs that look like that are between "the wall of brown hair" and the part line...would those hairs be considered as thin or miniaturized hairs or am I looking too much into this. Like you look in the left back area & between some follices. Also can you actually see hair that is a result of "breakage"?

Thanks again.

It's impossible to tell.

Centre-parting your hair like that is a weird thing to do and it's really hard to tell what is a normal centre-parting and what isn't.

Take a natural dry photo, don't part it like that.

(sorry for my English spelling of centre, looks weird huh).

Thanks hairhoper for your response. My hair kind of just naturally splits like that in the back (yeah I know strange) but I was wondering about those little hairs that you see on the left side of the split and the area where you see gaps, like what was going on with those? Think I'm just being paranoid all in all.

You can't tell whether the hair is miniaturized from the pic you supplied. I would imagine that at the early stages of male pattern baldness you would need a microscope to really determine whether there is miniaturization. Sometimes people at the early stages of male pattern baldness have regular photos showing wispy little hairs at the hairline that imply miniaturization, but with the crown it's just too hard to tell.

Don't bother pulling hairs from that region and comparing them with other hairs on your scalp because you probably won't be able to tell anything with just your naked eye. It will be a fruitless, OCD endeavor. Go see a qualified hair doctor or map your own scalp for miniaturization:

Totally agree with you! Is there a way that you can physically yourself see problems in the crown or what I see from angles & lighting on areas is just pointless? I did go and see a dermatologist in Jan. & she said she saw no miniaturization in my crown and it was normal & what I am being paranoid about recently is happening in March. I mean I know things can move fast but for a whole patch of a crown, just not sure.

Thanks again for the response, greatly appreciated.

If you were recently examined by a dermatologist and she said everything is fine, then you are probably just being paranoid and need to relax.

As for checking the crown yourself, watch the video I linked to in my last post and buy that microscope USB camera they use. I believe it costs around a hundred dollars, but if this is bothering you this much you may as well make the investment so that you can perform proper self-examinations.

It sounds like you are probably fine. Don't let this turn into a major preoccupation where you're scrutinizing your hair in the mirror every fifteen minutes.
